Great Medication Management
Telehealth
I found Dr Thompson on Dr On Demand, which was a huge blessing because it’s hard to find local, in-person psychiatrists in my area. The 15 min telehealth appointments are more than enough time to check in on my meds. If I have new symptoms I make a list ahead of time so I get right to the point. I find Dr Thompson listens well and I trust him to know when my meds need tweaking. Dr Thompson is not a therapist. He’s not chatty. But he is focused, professional and kind. We’ve had meetings as short as 2 mins. If I’m good, then I’m good. All I need is a Rx renewal. On the other hand, he encourages me to make an appointment any time I need one. No pressure to wait for my next check-in if new symptoms pop up. I really like the Dr On Demand platform and we’ve not had any technical difficulties.

Hangs up on people
Telehealth
If the audio isn't working right away, he won't bother to fix it and will just hang up on you leaving you to make another appointment with someone else and take more time out of your schedule. Incredibly rude. I was sick and stayed up all day waiting for this appointment just to be hung up on. And as you can see from other reviews, this is a common issue with this doctor.

Dr. Thompson works exclusively remotely. He has a small private medication-management practice in addition to his main gig which is working with incarcerated men. He schedules his own appointments, so there is no staff or bureaucracy to deal with (a relief). If you need medication management ONLY, I would highly recommend him. He is pleasant, flexible, and easy to make an appointment with. Just do not expect him to be a humanist. His professional interest appears to be tightly dual: 1) forensic psychiatry and 2) psychopharmacology. I suggest you make a list of facts and questions pertaining strictly to symptoms, side effects, and drugs before appointments, and not to stray from that list. We live, for better or worse, in an increasingly compartmentalized world. Carl Jung, it is hard to remember given where we have landed, was a psychiatrist, not a psychologist.

I am so glad I saw another reviewer's post about Dr. Thompson, because after years of fighting to be heard by my prior psychiatrist I was reaching my breaking point and he was the first available through Dr. On Demand. I felt seen, heard, and validated in a way I did not think was possible by a male psychiatrist. I am so thankful that he got me on the right path, and though Dr. On Demand isn't the right long-term solution for me I cannot recommend him enough if you struggle with attention issues and can't find anyone to take you seriously.

Dr. Thompson deserves more then enough stars, he is the first doctor that actually listened and made me feel so comfortable and spoke to me in ways I could understand. He cares so much about his patients and wants to help them overcome anything they are going through instead of just putting a band-Aid on it and sending you on your way. He is also very knowledgeable and leads you in the right direction always. His super professional and his staff are amazing as well, they always return your phone calls and help you with any issues you made have. I honestly can’t say enough!! So thankful and blessed to have found him and his staff. Thank you Dr. Thompson and your wonderful staff.
