Amazing Surgical Experience
I had cervical spine surgery in Feb 2024 due to complications from NF1. I had a tumor growing on my spinal chord that was tangled in nerves and causing numbness in my right hand as well as a build-up of spinal fluid. I was scared of surgery, but Dr. Boyer did such a fantastic job on my tricky case. He explained everything clearly, showed me MRI images and drew me a picture to show what would happen during my surgery. After surgery was tough (I was cut open and my nerves were manipulated to get to the tumor) but made a full recovery with all my arm and hand numbness completely gone. And as an extra bonus, the 5-inch scar on the back of my neck has healed so beautifully you can barely notice it. He was kind, attentive, and addressed every one of my fears. His team was also fantastic and they all stopped in regularly after my 2 days in the hospital post-op. I'll probably need more surgeries in the future due to my NF1 and I'd go back to him in a heartbeat. Thanks, Dr. Boyer!

Unprofessional canceled visit without much notice
Dr. Boyers staff called me with with less then 24 hrs to cancel a visit i had been waiting for for two weeks and flew back to chicago for. They had no reasonable alternatives for me to be seen within the week with Dr Boyer or his colleagues. Im still in significant pain and now back to square one in terms of finding a provider.

Dr. Boyer is an excellent doctor. He treated me with cortisone injections three times (only once per year). Now I have no back pain at all and the last injection was almost 6 years ago!

I spent much time with the Dr. identifying and managing several back/nerve issues. We finally agreed that my worst condition was a sacroiliac joint dysfunction. A week later, my mother had surgery to remove colon cancer secondary to ovarian cancer a year earlier. I put off surgery til she recovered enough that I could have mine. In the meantime, he left the location to practice elsewhere. I have been abandoned by the "Back Institute" and the staff that worked with him. No, good luck or sorry.
