Dr. Niu was a waste of time
Dr. Niu is a scam and only wants to fill his pocket, He gave my husband hope knowing there was nothing they could do, he just put him on a new medicine knowing there was nothing more to do, since the cancer had metastazied to his brain. My husband passed 30 days, 1 treatment later.

I am grateful for this amazing Dr
I was diagnosed with end stage small cell lung cancer with metastasis to liver, lymph nodes, adrenal gland, and just outside my brain in January2024. My prognosis was very poor. The other oncologist at another cancer center was putting me on hospice. I was told that I had until April. As of 3 weeks ago I am cancer free. Dr Niu and his team as well as the nurses infusing my medications are amazing. But Dr Niu is so intelligent, but very caring. He gave me my life back. I'm only 62. I wasn't ready to pass. Thank God I found this amazing Dr. Words can never describe how grateful I am. Thank you so much for caring enough to save my life.

DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR
This doctor left us stone cold and I feel strongly enough about an initial appointment with Dr. Niu recently to write about it.His manner was insulting to our intelligence. He came off as the classic arrogant know-it-allWith little if any care or compassion. In fact, there was NO consideration of what our experience was. He simply gave a long list of facts and statistics, relying on writing on the white board to impress his point. When we asked a question, he either interrupted and didn't let us finish, or just wouldn’t answer. With all those new statistics thrown at us about the disease, I asked to go over one point. He disdainfully said ‘I just told you that!!’ Need I go on? I think you get the idea and I can’t imagine that I’m the only person who has written this. This appointment wasn't long, so it’s not like we took that much of his time. We left feeling dismissed and like a number in his busy day.Not only will we never see him for care, I will actively not recommend him.

Doesn't understand the patients whole needs.
I would look for someone less jaded, my mother was perky and excited to get things done. I thought he was just playing "bad cop" and recommending hospice to get her motivated. But instead sent her directly to his immunotherapy cocktail that she never recovered from. As we all learn along the way after, she needed skilled nursing to get strength, because like he said, it wasn't the cancer at this point taking her down. So why send her to that and home to PT and not an immediate concern of a direct place that could get her weight up, like it eventually did. He just didn't have the patience for her and I would very strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Poor bedside Manor
My husband came to see Dr. Niu in 2018 at first Dr Niu was doing good with my husband, and what he chose for him to take my husband had non-small cell lung cancer, then it moved to the rest of his body the medication he was taking cleared it up. Then my husband had a blood transfusion and Dr.Niu gave him a chemo treatment too soon. My husband ended up with Septus. He was so sick. We had to go by ambulance to get to the hospital Dr. Niu was told that he was in the hospital and didn’t even come over to say what would be the next step to do. My husband died in 2019.

Love Dr Niu
Dr Niu's has given me at least 10 months more time with my 75 year old mom who was diagnosed with stage IV NSCL (non-smoker). Her cancer was aggressive and very hard due to resistance from her first experience with cancer. Due to his recommendation of a particular immunotherapy cocktail, my mom's tumors responded and we were able to eat out, go to the casino, and shop and relax at the house comfortably. I'm so grateful for the additional time with my mom thanks to Dr Niu and the health providers at Banner Gateway

Rude, impatient. Came for second opinion of lung cancer diagnosis. Turns out, he is not a lung cancer specialist. Shame on you Banner M.D. Anderson for assigning this doctor to me. He disregarded prior tests, wouldn't answer questions, and got it wrong. Might as just as well have gone to a car mechanic. Absolutely appalling.

I found Dr. Niu by accident but I liked him right away. I had had a bad experience at another treatment center and meeting Dr. Niu restored my faith in my ability to beat this thing. I would highly recommend him and MD Anderson does nothing but enhance his recommendation.
