I am so very angry with Dr Powell. I started seeing her at 14 years old. Possibly 13. I had serious menstrual problems. Her solution was to put me on birth control. So for 14 years I took it. It controlled my issues. At 26 I stop it. The problems begin. She didn't want to test anything for me. She didn't want to test my hormones. And when she did she left out a major player. PROLACTIN. I would go several months no period and she didn't think it was an issue and in fact told me it was because I was overweight. The problems persist and she still doesn't want to do anything. I just need to know WHY you didn't check my prolactin level. Imagine me finding out I have a pituitary tumor as soon as I find a new doctor. Dr Powell you did nothing but cover up my issue and you never even attempted to figure it out. Even when I was 14 years old. You didn't think to check the prolactin? Not once. Not one time in 14 years? And then add on the fact that I'm overweight BECAUSE OF THE TUMOR? I would NEVER send my children to her. Even after seeing her for over a decade myself. You ignored me. You didn't help me and you let me suffer miserably with these problems I could have been treating.

Would not recommend
Dr. Powell attributed my symptoms to my weight, then shamed me for not exercising after I told her I was in a lot of pain (which ended up being caused an aggressive autoimmune disease that was untreated for multiple years). Symptoms that Dr. Powell attributed to my weight- without doing any imaging- ended up being a large tumor. I needed surgery and I lost a fallopian tube- I’m lucky the tube didn’t rupture due to the tumor size.

When I was getting the pill for the first time, she pressured me into paps multiple times. Once, she said she wouldn’t prescribe me the pill when I refused an unneeded exam and I had to sign a waiver.

Dr. Powell is an outstanding individual. Dr. Powell is extremely committed to caring for her patients, she has excellent bed side communication skills, is extremely thorough during the exam process and extremely patient and understanding. I have been under her care since 1990 and would highly recommend her for your ob gyn needs. Thank You Dr. Jill Powell for your sincere dedication to my ob gyn care!!!!!!
