First visit ai thought Dr Malin wss being rude. I thought he ddnt want to deal with ne because i was if color and over weight. He told me i needed to lose weight for the surgery. I wss contemplating leaving and asking for another Doctor. He would look me in the eye. I lost weight enough to get surgery. The day my husband and i was going to confront him eas tge fay ur all changed. I saw a smile on his face and he looked at me. As time went on i saw that Dr Malin loved his job and he was serious about it I never had long wait times. Surgery date i was taken not long after i was admitted. I am well pleased with my surgery and how my knee has healed. The recover has been quicker than my other knee done in 2017. Im thankful i stayed with Dr Malin ans i woyld do it again. I will also refer him to others.

RUDE
Walked in, didn't say hello or introduce himself. Barley made eye contact. Clicked through the computer/chart and ignored my questions until he was ready to answer. Had to drag any and all possible options for treatment out of him. Tells me one treatment option won't work, then tells me we can try it...Has zero manners, let alone beside manners.

After several years of injections and still dealing with pain, I figured I finally needed knee replacement. Had several recommendations, but decided on an appointment with Joel Malin, as he is in the practice I've used for years, and I wanted robotic surgery. I was impressed immediately with his diagnosis/comments regarding my issues. He's all business, not a lot of small talk, but realized immediately this was the guy I wanted for surgery. Surgery went smoothly, and impressed with his overall performance with the use of the robotic technology/accuracy, as well as the use of zip line stitching. One healed, the scar will almost be invisible. If you want to feel confident in going into surgery, he's the guy!

rude is an understatment
I was seen in Orto-fast for a knee pain. The x-ray was clean and I was told if the pain did not go away I would need a MRI. As instructed I called after 5 days of no relief. I was told I needed to be seen again before the MRI could be scheduled. I drove 45 min to appoinment. This rude guy walked in asked me where the pain was when he touched the site I reacted with a jump and sigh. He was taken back by my reaction and told me I was extremely sensitive. I was shocked as I am obviously here because I am in pain. I then had to ask him a bunch of questions as to what this could possibly be...he simply said I don't know what is wrong with you. He offered no other examination I asked him if a brace would help. He then said well yes but based on your oversensitivity you wont be able to wear it. I then said I gave birth 3 times naturally and never cried. I am definitely not over sensitive. This guy has 25 years experience, graduated from 2 top universities, and offers me nothing but insu

Don't see Dr. Malin if you're looking for a new bestie. See him if you're looking for a brilliant surgeon. I needed a knee replacement, but my situation is complicated by prior operations and my age (I'm young for this procedure at 43). Dr. Malin was recommended by another surgeon who performs knee replacements, but didn't feel up to the task. He said there was no better surgeon in the state than Dr. Malin. I'm thrilled with the result. Most surgeons I consulted with wanted to give me a complete knee replacement, but he did better for me with a less invasive procedure that buys me 10-15 years before I have to have a full replacement. Patients giving him one or two stars: I understand. He's not the most personable. He can come off as abrasive. He's short. He certainly doesn't look to connect on a personal level. So again, if you're looking for a buddy, look somewhere else. If, on the other hand, you want a surgeon other surgeons look up to, make an appointment with Dr. Malin.

This man is condescending and rude. Unfortunately I have been seen by him twice and both times he was the same. No personality. No bedside manner. Not helpful or informative whatsoever. OSG should be ashamed.

I broke my right leg in the winter of 2017. Dr. Malin inserted a rod to re-connect the bone pieces and screws to keep everything in place. The break healed over 6 months and I have returned to my previous level of activity. I believe Dr. Malin is a well trained and highly experienced orthopedist. He was always very courteous during visits, taking time to answer questions and engaging my family and I in helpful discussions regarding my treatment. I highly recommend him for orthopedic care.

Dr Malin did a routine hip replacement not my dad in 2015....2 mos later my dad fell at PT (not at OSG). Dr Malin had to due a full hip revision...replace prosthetic and put in a plate with multiple cables to repair hip replacement and stabilize femur. Fast forward 18 mos and he performed a total knee replacement on bad leg. Dr Malin is a very talented surgeon who literally has given my dad his life back. His sense of humor is dry which I think many mistake for arrogance. Highly recommend.

Surgical follow up was poor after hip surgery.Problems with recovery were finally explained by another doctor who discussed issues that should have come from Dr Malin. Poor "bedside manner ", doesn't ask questions, very brusque, follow up office visits pot survey lasted less than 5 minutes.

He was one of the rudest and most arrogant people I have ever met. I waited for an hour and fifteen minutes with no apology or reason. He told me there was nothing he could do for me. I explained that I was in excruciating pain and he shrugged his shoulders and said I had to live with it. I need a knee replacement but he said I was too big for that and I told him I was dieting and had lost 15 lbs. He said come back in 3 months. His manner and tone were demeaning and I left the office in tears.

Dr. Malin has been our family's orthopedic surgeon for many years, successfully treating my sons' various hockey injuries and my own RA-related joint issues. He also successfully replaced a prior bad knee replacement for my sister when she believed her only option was amputation: today she is fully mobile and relatively pain-free.
