Dr. Joel Mendelson, MD

My son needed a new allergist. Dr. Mendelson was recommended by our pediatrician. I was able to schedule an appointment easily and quickly. The office staff were very friendly and kind, but Dr. Mendelson stole the show. He was kind, friendly, fun, and great with my little boy. He was intelligent, efficient, and knowledgeable. He spent so much time with us and answered all of my questions. He even looked at a long list of foods I made that my son will eat. He performed the procedures needed that day himself and didn’t have someone else do it. Our experience with Dr. Mendelson was possibly the best doctor experience I’ve ever had. My son agrees! I highly recommend this doctor! My husband will be making an appointment with him soon for himself. I only wish I had some allergies so he could be my doctor as well.

My son had an appointment in March where they did an allergy test. Dr. Mendolson said he would call the following week with the test results. It is now going on FOUR MONTHS and no one has ever called me. I have called several times myself to get the results but I have only ever been able to leave a message and no one returns the call. The doctor and the staff at his West Orange office are absolutely USELESS, do NOT bother ever going to them.

Very nice intellectual doctor - definitely a cut above the typical allergist

This office is exactly what you need when dealing with children and allergies. Dr. Mendelson himself is very gentle and kind when dealing with the children. The office is small enough where you never feel overwhelmed and you get one on one attention. My children recently got their flu vaccines from Dr. Mendelson and he was better than any nurse they have ever had at their pediatrician's office. He was amazing!

Dr. Mendelson listened carefully to my daughters complicated story involving hospitalizations and lots of blood tests and cat scans. He was very patient with her. She usually hates doctors but he has an upbeat manner that she liked. Me too. She has asthma , food allergies and severe eczema. Dr. M put together a simple treatment plan and helped me deal with her school. Highly recommend him!!!

I have had a bunch of visits with Dr. Mendelson in the past few years. He's so good with my kids they actually love going to the office. Beth and Barbara his front desk people are wonderful. I love that i always see him and not a nurse practitioner or assistant. I find its better to see him in the Mountaindide office because at the other offices there are medical students an residents following him around. He has never disappointed me. I trust him completely.

I felt comfortable immediately. The office staff was wonderful with dealing with my insurance and directing me to the office by phone when my gps didn't work. He explained everything before he did the testing so my daughter was not at all frightened. I had a much better understanding of her asthma triggers and felt confident I could manage her with no more ER visits.

I have been seeing Dr. Mendelson with my 3 sons for many years. They all have life threatening food allergy. He has been a tremendously reliable source of care. He returns calls promptly and never rushes the visits. Besides that my kids love him.

I found Dr Mendelson to be very easy to talk with. He is the third allergist I've dealt with and was much more knowledgable than the others by far. He also took the time to hear my whole story.
