Dr. Joel Sandberg, MD

At my appointment I was told that glaucoma is an issue and I should come back in a year.Other issues with this office, caused me to see another othomogist, a short 3 months after my appointment with Dr. Sandberg. At the appointment at a different more qualified othomogist,I was told during that appointment that I have a rare form of glaucoma that is called angle closure glaucoma. Which is a kind of glaucoma that needs to be treated before it presents a problem as this can cause sudden blindness. And I must take care of this ASAP, also to inform my family they should watch for this rare form of glaucoma. This was not disclosed to me with Dr. Sandberg. I was not told the severity of my condition based on age and cataract size. Basically, this office let me leave as a walking time bomb and unaware that this condition can be presented as a hereditary issue and cause permanent blindness swiftly.

Watch your billing. They will double bill you and your insurance. When I arrived for a scheduled appointment I was given a paper telling me if I wanted to have refraction I had to pay as insurance wouldn’t cover. I questioned but paid. When I got my monthly statement from my insurance provider, I saw they had billed them for the same procedure thereby collecting twice. Over the past 3 months I have made numerous attempts to call but my call and messages are not returned. It is not a large amount of dollars but I feel they are deliberately taking advantage of their patients. BEWARE!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Sandberg for quite a few years, and he has treated me for various eye issues. This past summer I had surgery on my upper and lower eyelids and Dr. Sandberg was fantastic. The results well exceeded my expectations. I feel and look younger and people have noticed the change without knowing why. He is a very precise surgeon and explains everything thoroughly. I would highly recommend Dr. Joel Sandberg for your eye care health.
