I was a respectful, responsible self-pay patient of Dr. Alford since start of 2020, attending visits and managing my care. Due to financial limits, I occasionally deferred non-urgent care and advocated for affordable options—particularly when a drug screen charge exceeded the Good Faith Estimate. Instead of a conversation, I was abruptly terminated two days after a routine visit by Dr.Alford. Though offered 30 days of continued care, I was locked out of MyChart and refill requests were denied. I spent hours on the phone with staff trying to resolve a billing issue, only to be mailed unrelated results. Repeated efforts via MyChart, email, and patient advocacy were ignored. This has left me in emotional distress and scrambling for care. I share this not out of anger, but to encourage more respectful, transparent care—especially for self-pay patients.

Dr. John Alford is top tier!

I'd moved to Cincinnati and was in between family doctors. I unexpectedly developed a serious medical issue -- naturally, on a Friday -- and called my health insurance carrier for a referral. They gave me Dr. Alford's name and that was my lucky day. We had a thorough telemed appointment later that same day, and over the next few days (yes, over the weekend while he was home with his family), he deftly handled my emergency and got me the help I needed. Part of my treatment plan included some diagnostic tests at a local hospital; when the tech saw Dr. Alford's name on the test orders, she said, 'Oh you're lucky! He's my doctor and he's terrific!' We had a followup telemed appointment a few months later and finally, a face-to-face at the end of the year. Dr. Alford is calm, knowledgeable, welcomes questions and I've never once felt rushed. He's a consummate professional with a great bedside manner.

I recently saw Dr. Alford for a yearly physical. He did a tremendous job spending so much time talking to me and learning about me and my family. He addressed all of my concerns. I highly recommend anyone who needs a Primary Care Provider go see him.
