Terrible office
My husband has been a patient if Dr Atwell for 4 years. When he was really needed his staff never even allowed us to talk to the doctor. Never go there again. Just a bad place.

The office is unprofessional, they are not friendly, and very unempathetic. Be sure to check to see if he is covered by your insurance before going - the office will not notify you and then bill you extravagant amounts. The office does not have flexible scheduling, or online patient options and generally does anything it can to make money. - They do not respect or value their patients as people or their time. Dr. Atwell is dismissive, very rushed, and does not take the time to talk to his patients and you can be waiting for a long time when you get there - He does not respect his patients or their time. Very expensive - and if that is mentioned - Atwell makes every excuse as to why it is....even though his office is littered with expensive F1 Racing memorabilia... It's a joke. Avoid this place and the crap service if you value your sanity and money.

His negligence almost killed me!
My mother had an appointment with Dr. Atwell, the morning of August 21st, 2023, because she felt like she was getting a Urinary Tract Infection. She gave a urine specimen, then Dr. Atwell examined her. He said you're fine and you can leave. That evening, about 5pm, I spoke to her on the phone and she sounded so sick. Her friend, Klaus was with her. He said she stopped talking but her eyes were opened. I told him to call 911.When she got to Cleveland Clinic Hospital, her bladder retained 1000 mls of urine, she had a bad Urinary Tract Infection that spread to her kidneys and went into her blood stream, and her sodium was 118. She almost died. Dr. Atwells office never even called with her test results until Thursday, August 24th. I immediately called my daughter Lindsay, who is a Nurse Practitioner, to meet her at the ER. Thankfully, my mother was discharged on Friday, August 25th, with an IV port, for 10 more days of IV Antibiotics, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and other meds.

Bad review!!! – Dec 14, 2023

Terrible Awful Run away
My grandfather was scheduled to get a small procedure with Dr. Atwell. A week prior, we made an appointment to go over the tests and procedure. Our first inkling that something was very wrong was when the nurse snapped demanding to know “why we were there”. Um, well, we were there to go over the barrage of tests, understand the procedure and discuss other options”. We were made to feel like we were wasting their time. We were rushed in and out, shown no test results nor were able to ask any questions. A few days later, we still had questions so I called the office to ask for their email so that I could email the 3 questions that we had. I was literally screamed at by Dr. Atwell’s assistant/wife who said “email!! How would I even charge you for email??!! When I asked if we could have copies of the results of the ultra-sounds and cat-scans ordered by them, I was told she was dropping my grandfather as a patient because we were “wasting their time”. Do yourself a favor and find another

rude staff
The staff snarls at you from the minute you walk in until the minute you leave. For two out of two appointments with Dr. Atwell, I was seen only by the PA. Dr. Atwell was “too busy” to even stop in.

Absolutely awesome
Takes time to listen and answer your questions . Goes out of his way to help you understand. I moved across the country and he was able to refer a couple doctors to me so I would be in good hands. I wish more doctors were like him.

Atwater
When I came into to give a urine specimen I could not go and asked if I could wait a bit. The office staff was very rude and told me I would have to reschedule. I told the office I would no longer be a patient based on their response. The Dr later sends letter to me saying they would no longer accept me as a patient Thus Dr and his staff are terrible.

No, I wouldn't recommend Dr.Atwell to anyone that I love or know. Today's date 2/12/21, After a week of my surgery that left me with drainage coming out of my body, I call Dr. Atwell's office for further instructions when his office personnel and I got involved in a verbal disagreement. They advise me that Dr. Atwell was not going to speak to me via phone. I waited for his call back anyway. But his call back was to accuse me of being a un compliance patient, without hearing my side he just assumed his staff told him the true story and never bother to hear me out. Note there's one star showing on my review but I wanted to give him none to show.

Dr. Atwell may be a good urologist, but his administrative staff is absolutely incompetent. After my insurance company denied pre-authorization of a surgical procedure, the office manager assured me they would file a peer to peer review. Nothing was done even after five visits to the office and multiple telephone calls pleading with them to submit the paperwork for the review. I was told several times the paperwork had been submitted but the insurance company says they never received anything. The office staff refused to let me schedule an appointment with Dr. Atwell to discuss my concerns and told me he doesn't care about insurance matters. But if he isn't concerned when his office staff doesn't follow up with the insurance company to make sure the patient is able to receive a necessary procedure, then he doesn't care about his patients. A doctor's office is a business and the doctor is the CEO. It is up to him to make sure the office staff takes patients' needs seriously.

Dr Atwell is great, his Office staff on the other hand are rude and could care less about anyone. They told me they have to keep your credit card on file or you can leave the practice. They would not give a second call to my BC/BS it was as if it was inconveniencing them. The doctor should rethink who the gate keepers are for his practice

Spent almost two hours, filled out paper work, told same story to PAand Nurse. Dr. came in, put on gloves and said , “Let’s take a look.” Everyone , pa, Nurse, Doctor, and husband in a too small room. With his hand half in me, I told himI thought I passed a kidney stone. Immediately, he pulled hand out, took off gloves, then said I needed a cystoscope. I did not hear him and had to ask the desk what he said. Two and a half hours wait and one and a half minutes with this doctor.

I worked with Dr. Atwell regarding a long standing condition and found him to be one of the most responsive and caring doctors I come across. When he exhausted options, he referred me to another out of state specialist.

Dr Atwell has been my urologist for 3 years. Incredibly competent, tremendous personality ( loves Porsches too) performed Green Light Laser prostate surgery on me one week ago. The only discomfort was the two day catherization. Flow is great, no urinary pain, no erectile difficulities, he did a fantastic job. Situation the same, I would have him do it again tomorrow. He is fantastic.

He does not listen; he spoke over me. I saw the PA except for a minute with the doctor himself. Staff forgot (!!!) to tell me to get bloodwork for CT Urogram, so I was cancelled by Vero Radiology. Then they forgot to reschedule my cystoscopy due to the cancellation of the CT. Never seemed to care or apologize for all my inconvenience, but said, "Well, mistakes happen."

Uneducated/unwilling to discuss any treatment options available for IC except the specific Rx he prescribed. I felt rushed through each appointment without time to have my questions addressed. Once he was even walking me out off the exam room as I was trying to ask questions. When calling his office to alert them of Rx issues i was having, I felt like I was a nuisance to his staff. I was told if I was having side effects to the meds I could call my regular doc to get an Rx for the side effect.
