UNNECESSARY TESTING!
I went to Dr. Denning for a pre-employment physical exam and he ordered a lab test that was deemed experimental by my PPO. I'm a healthy 35 year old with no significant medical history and all I needed was medical clearance prior to starting a new surgical assist position. In addition to ordering a routine lipid panel, which came back normal, he simultaneously ordered an experimental/investigational lipoprotein A test. When this service was denied by my insurance company, I requested he justify his medical reasoning for ordering the test so I wouldn't have to absorb this out of pocket cost. His reply was "nothing I can do". As a medical provider myself, I try to be scrupulous about ordering unnecessary tests, especially if it will not help rule out a diagnosis or change the management plan.

Zero Stars
He barely spent any time addressing why I was there had a very abrasive demeanor, used incorrect diagnoses and when I tried to reach out to his office neither him or his office staff ever responded.

Felt very Rushed and Empty
I had taken PTO to visit the doctor for a physical. His visit felt rushed and empty. I was handed weight loss brochure and sent home to get some tests and come back for another billable. He seemed to try to comfort you with unfounded reasons.

He acts as if he's too busy. We didn't have his attention and were billed incorrectly. I have four children and won't bring any of them to him again. He's arrogant.

Awful doctor. Constantly interrupted me while I was explaining what was going on with my health issues. Continued to tell me that it was just "stress related". Prescribed me highly inappropriate medications, and ordered as many tests as he possibly could, regardless of their relevance to my situation. My bill was absolutely astronomical, and to think, I originally just went in for an annual physical. And after all of that, he found nothing wrong with me.

If you like to visit your physician multiple times for the same issue, Dr. Denning is your guy. After having two primary care physicians that I really liked (both left Scripps), I was referred to Dr. Denning. My first and only visit with Dr. Denning was for an annual physical. He asked what I wanted and I replied that I would like a complete blood panel to know what is going on with my body. Dr. Denning requested another appointment for me to come in and review the results. My previous pcp's would either give me a call or drop a note in the mail with the test results. I do not have the time or money to take 2 hours out of my day to do something that can be done over the phone. My next issue was when I needed to have a prescription refilled. My pharmacy called in the refill 4 times with no response. I was asked to cal Dr. Denning's office to get the prescription sent to my pharmacy. Nothing happened. On the next call I was informed I would have to be seen to refill.

When you’re a reluctant patient and your doctor tells you, “we’ll get you better,” there is something reassuring in that. Dr. Denning was frank, helpful, knowledgeable, kind, empathetic. He got right to the point. I’m happy I found him. I feel as though he’s brought lots of quality to my healthcare.

Exceptionally poor work ethic, billed for services he did not provide, non- responsive to questions, concerns and issues alike. Behaves like he is invincible (and maybe he is with this broken health system). Claim of "Sports Medicine" in his profile appeared bogus, he demonstrated no knowledge whatsoever and no interest in that area.

Being in the medical field I can tell the difference between a doctor who tells you what you want to hear and a doctor who gives you what you need. Dr Denning knows his stuff. He was able to identify and treat medical conditions that others were not. My health (and probably lifespan) has significantly improved as a result of his care.

My husband visited for an annual wellness exam and the doctor said he was "one point above the blood pressure guidelines". Doctor also referenced how the blood pressure guidelines had just changed and in the past, my husband's blood pressure wouldn't be considered high. Doctor ordered extra unnecessary blood tests and required a follow up visit after the labs so my husband could hear about the results. During that second visit, labs showed zero issues with his bloodwork and no issues with his bl

Would not recommend. * Terrible communicator * Canceled a prescription without warning or reason * Does not respond promptly to any kind of requests * Demands in-office visits for simple questions Overall just feels like he's milking clients for money.

None. Unless one is ever in the mood to listen to someone who is arrogant, unprepared, as in refusing to look at recent test results, and who; (best for last) asks a question...but constantly interrupts the answer If that happens, then Denning's the guy!

He is thorough and I suppose that is good. However he requests you to come back and see him every couple of months. This proves expensive as you have to pay the copayment every time. For me in particular, he told me I was one of his healthiest patience for my age group but became focused on my vitamin D levels & made me cone back all the time. Not sure it is the best way to handle it.
