Former Spinal Fusion Patient
Dr. Flynn performed my spinal fusion in 2007 at age 12 for severe, aggressive scoliosis. I still remember how kind and communicative he was with me and my mom, which made this scary and difficult time less painful for us. In the past 16 years since my recovery, I have not had any back problems whatsoever and I've been able to experience life without physical restrictions. Roller coasters, yoga, pilates, ice skating, 5Ks, rowing, swimming, hiking, prom, college, grad school, solo international travel--all of these things I have been able to do without pain or restrictions because of the excellent treatment I received. I will always be grateful for all of the work he and his team at CHOP did for me.

Highly recommend!
Dr Flynn is amazing and his team from start to finish for my daughters whole hospital stay was second to none. He made us feel very informed on everything and we were extremely comfortable throughout the process. My daughter had 13 vertebra fused for Scheuermann’s Kyphosis at 15 years old.

Dr. Flynn saved my sons life! He had one of the most severe kyphoscoilosis curvatures in a child that was 2 that Dr Flynn has seen in his career. He has been preferring several surgeries since October 2016 as my son continues to grow. We travel from SW Florida to see him knowing he is the BEST and will do what is best for our son. He 100% is a surgeon and any surgeon's that you have interacted with you know how their personalities are. He's direct, clear on his plan of care, and we never have had to question what we are told.

To be frank. He is possibly the best surgeon and man I’ve met other then my father of course. He saved my life as my scoliosis at age 16 was at a 118 degree curve and was crushing all my internal organs on my left side. I am eternally grateful for him. I had the surgery in December 2016 and only problem I face now in 2020 is very severe and chronic pain. Since I just turned 18 a few months ago I should hopefully be on a painkiller for some amount of time and get back to the life I love to live. Best surgeon in the entire United States!!! I remember the first thing I said post-surgery was “I love you Dr, thank you so much” as I was trying to jump out of my bed. Such a good man and a hero to so many!

I was his patient for 12 years. Age 8-20. I’m now 22. He saved my life. My scoliosis was eventually going to interfere with my heart. Was curious to see if he is still at CHOP. Amazing care for all 12 years, before and after surgery.

If I knew my child definitely needed surgery then Dr. Flynn may be the person to see. Once Dr. Flynn realizes that surgery is not required he is not interested in helping to problem solve any other orthopedic issues. As he told us "im a surgeon, I only do surgery".
