Still in Pain - scammed out of money
Very rarely had appointments with the actual doctor, even though I tried to make them. My daughter was in severe back pain, but even after many different injections, they were never able to relieve any of it and even made it worse. After one of the injections she couldn't even walk & fell to the floor when they told her she could get up. At first injection was told our insurance would not cover them, so had to pay in full. Insurance did cover (nearly 100%), and now the practice will not refund the credit on our account, even 2 years later. I have given up calling them and asking for the money. It's a scam! Don't pay anything in full until you talk to your insurance. Clearly they did not talk to ours! They also had us over-pay for our co-pays. And their office staff was rude.

Dr Hong is nice enough - it’s the disconnect between what I’ve been told and what actually happens that I have issues with

After YEARS of seeing specialist after specialist and years of physical therapy, acupuncture, injections, and experimenting with pain medications, I finally found Dr Hong. He was able to relieve my pain. Dr Hong’s different method of injections have given me more pain free, medication free days then I’ve had in a long time. He has drastically changed my quality of life and I am absolutely grateful for his knowledge, time, and compassion. I cannot express my gratitude enough to a doctor who has changed my life in such a dramatic way.

Reception staff is consistently rude and treat patients as if we are supposed to know all the ins and outs about the referral process. Dr. Kalin left the practice and I only found out because I requested to make an appointment. When I asked when and why, I was told it happened "a while ago" and that Dr. Hong would be following up. I never received any follow up. I then tried to make an appointment with Dr. Hong, however, his receptionist said he would not see me based on the request I made (I have degenerative disc disease and requested a doctor's note). Needless to say, I will be looking for a new doctor and would not recommend anyone consider Gateway Spine for treatment.

My son had been having radiating back pain which went undiagnosed by MANY doctors. All of them thought it was in my son's head. Luckily I found Dr. Hong who ordered testing and found a small tumor (benign) inbetween 2 of my sons ribs that was causing his pain. My son also suffers from anxiety, especially for all things medical. Dr. Hong was kind, compassionate and very calming. He listened to my son and talked treatment options out with him, making sure he was comfortable, never seeming to be in a big hurry to get to the next patient. I can't say enough good things about him!

Doctor Hong and his people are a breath of fresh air! Compared to my last pain management doctor in Orland Park, Il. He and his staff try very hard to keep his appointments on time but always has the time to discuss what's on your mind! He is a straight shooter and care more about his patients than his bank account.

I didn’t think I would ever have pain relief following a work Comp injury. Dr. Hong knew exactly what types of treatments would help the different areas of injury. Also his staff is amazing and friendly. Stacie PA is very knowledgeable and kind. I’m happy I was referred to Dr. Hong.

Dr. Hong made me feel comfortable and showed his concern for my health and saftey. He prepared me by explaining the procedure and making sure that all my questions were answered. The procedure when as planned. The other thing that struck me about Dr. Hong was how the nurses and techs related to him and how they spoke about him. Excellent!

I have had the privilege of having Dr.Hong as my doctor for several years and I have been taken care of and listened to about everything. I thank everyone at his practice. Dr Hong and his staff are all wonderful. I recommend him and his practice in Bolingbrook and in Hinsdale. They are my blessings in my time of need.

I've been seeing Dr. Hong for 7 years. He's without doubt the best pain management doctor I've seen in the past 30 years since my pelvis was crushed. We tried several different procedures and he finally suggested we try the Medtronic Neurostimulator. At first I was reluctant but Dr. Hong's gentle persuasion got me to give it a try. We did the trial December 2017, did the full implant February 2018 and after a couple sessions with the Medtronic techs I'm feeling better than I expected possible.

I saw Dr Hong to manage the pain caused by spondylosis. He was always attentive, compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely professional. With me, he developed a plan when included injections, oral analgesics and activity. He’s the best, followed closely by his staff.

Dr. Hong was very conscientious about the approach to my treatment, and worked very hard to help me understand and apply all of the options. When surgery was my only one left, at least we knew we tried everything before resorting to that. Very caring and supportive. Works well with my surgeon, and now I am doing extremely well.

I would fully recommend Gateway to anyone suffering chronic pain. Personally they gave me a new life, relitavely free of debilitating pain. The relief I have felt from their treatment is fantastic. Having severe spinal issues which cannot be surgically repaired a pain clinic was my only option. I'm so glad I found Dr. Hung and his staff. Thanks guys.
