Dr. Khadem Is Exceptional!!!!!
How do I begin to say how wonderful Dr. Khadem is. He performed my mom’s surgery successfully when no one else wanted to do it for her. My mom had a Macular Hole repair and the post-procedural care and precautions were very tedious. He encouraged her, he was so kind, patient and considerate with us. He is just an amazing person. I would refer anyone to Dr. Khadem. I thank him from the bottom of my heart. My mom’s vision is way better than mine now ever when wearing my glasses. The staff were pleasant, and worked diligently to get everything covered for mom’s surgery. We saw him on a Wednesday and by friday morning he squeezed mom in for surgery and now she’s able to enjoy life again. The follow up care was amazing to say the least? He is absolutely the best. His bedside manner is unmatched. Just a wonderful human being an exceptional surgeon ophthalmologis. If there’s a wait he is worth every minute of it. He explained everything in detail so my mom could understand, she felt at ease.

I can’t say enough positive things about Dr. Khadem. I was referred to him on an urgent basis by my regular eye doctor, and the waiting time was minimal for his various assistants. When I saw him, it was totally worth the wait. What a gentleman! Kind, reassuring, and an absolute pleasure to meet with. It’s a very busy practice, so no one has time to shmooze for long, but everyone there was extremely nice and friendly. Turned out I don’t have a retinal problem, so I’m off to yet another specialist, but I’m a little sorry I don’t fall into Dr. Khadem’s jurisdiction, so to speak.

My vision was saved by Dr Khadem
Yes, there is a long wait time - it’s a thorough procedure which takes time to properly dilate your eyes for his examination. Yes, there may be a long wait because he sees people- like me - who's retina detached without warning and every moment counted to save my sight He talked me through a terrifying procedure and his immense confidence gave me strength. His staff is constantly busy with patients who need timely follow ups, and they do their jobs efficiently and always with a smile

Excellent/thorough examination
In addition to living in the United States, I have also lived in 4 foreign countries where I had also been attended to by various eye specialists. Dr. Khadem and his staff provided the most thorough series of tests as part of the examination process. Prior to seeing the doctor, members of his team do a series of tests and insert drops for the dilation process. When you walk into Dr. Khadem's office, he already has access to all of the tests that have been performed. If there are issues, he explains the problem and how it can be taken care of.

Excellent Choice
Dr. John Khadem and his colleagues provide professional, reliable and kind healthcare to me. I was diagnosed with a macular hole that was treated through a vitrectomy (45-minute outpatient surgery), restoring eyesight in my surgical eye. Follow-up exams to track my recovery are thorough. My morning appointments begin on time. I am grateful for the top-notch ophthalmology treatment at Retina Specialists and Hudson Yards Surgery Center. I strongly recommend Dr. John Khadem and his team.

Go elsewhere
My experience with Dr. Khadem was terrible, and it didn't need to be if he had better bedside manners and time management skills. The laser procedure he conducted on me was awful because it was unnecessarily painful, and I waited nearly two hours for him to conduct it (this was after it had been rescheduled because his staff didn't tell me it would be at this location, and I ended on at his 13th st location)! It was painful because my eye wasn't numbed with enough drops, so it/I NATURALLy pushed out whatever he tried to put in my eye without warning (some circular thing that helped keep it open, but he never explained that). Think twice about getting your laser procedures done here, especially since the little sign at the reception desk says he has financial/stakeholder interest in the location. Had I known and seen this before the procedure, I would have gone elsewhere. Please look at reviews on other sites.

In 2 consecutive days spent a total of 7 hours in Dr. Khadem's office, 20 minutes of tests, 20 minutes with the doctor. Otherwise just waiting. The whole operation is like a money factory. He's arrogant beyond belief. His communication skills are almost totally lacking. And most importantly when he treated my eye he failed to numb it enough so I had excruciating pain, first from what he told me after-the fact was iodine, and then from when he inserted a needle. As I was complaining about the pain it didn't even occur to him to stop or apologize. I've gone through many operations. Nobody else has ever hurt me. His only reaction was to ask if I wanted him to give me the name of someone else for a 2nd opinion. A 2nd opinion is someone collaborating or disputing a diagnosis. It has nothing to do with his callousness. His lack of compassion or his not taking the proper precautions so I wouldn't experience such awful pain. I would never, ever recommend this doctor to anyone.

I should have written this review 15 years ago. Dr. Khadem has saved my eyes. I had a retina hole and two retina tears. It was an emergency surgery because I waited six months before I seeked help. Highly recommend him and Dr. Pieroni. If you are going for this type of surgery, you should take omega. This will increase the healing.

I was referred to Dr. John Khadem for a retinal detachment by another ophthalmologist back in early January this year. From the day to my surgery to all of my follow-up appointments, I found Dr Khadem to be extremely caring, compassionate, experienced and highly skillful. My sight is saved because of Dr. Khadem. I am forever grateful for Dr. Khadem’s gift of healing. In my opinion, Dr. Khadem is one of the very best doctors, a great example of a truly excellent physician.

Dr Khadem saved my eye site. He is a remarkable professional who took tremendous diligence in his efforts to fix what was a very sick eye. It was a difficult surgery and recovery process and he was quite caring and sensitive to my emotional responses to the difficulties I was having, not just my retina. It was a long process, but I can see and I know it is because of John Khadem and his very professional associates. The people with the negative reviews, I'm sorry but I don't get it.

Dr. Khadem provided me with expert and compassionate care for years. He fully explained the changes that were occurring in my eyes, discussed treatment options, reviewed the pros and cons of each, listened to questions and took his time to make sure his responses were understood. NY has no shortage of competent technicians; Dr. Khadem is not only highly skilled, but he treats his patients with respect and dignity...as valued fellow human beings. He's the best!

Dr. Khadem was a con artist and fraud. He would accept appointments from a number of patients and have them wait from 2 to 5 hours. When it was your time for an examination, he wasn't sure about his diagnosis. In addition, in my case, he scheduled me to see him once a month without any help or solution to my retina problem. He just wanted to collect from my insurance company.

Very caring, compassionate and brilliant specialist. We fought macular edema for two years, restoring my sight and hope for a better future. Well worth the long wait for the exams as they are very thorough before one can see Dr. Khadem. Take at least 3 hours from the appointment time to conclusion. The staff is very corteus and helful. I highly recommend dr. Khadem and his practice.
