Knowledgeable, very helpful
Dr Khoury is very knowledgeable, analytical, friendly, & he truly cares about people & their quality of life. He takes patient concerns seriously. Although there are other neurologists in the area who specialize in treating sleep disorders, he is the only neurologist in Bucks & Montgomery Counties who is both Fellowship-trained & Certified in Sleep Medicine. Because of his extensive clinical experience & his contributions to the emerging science of this area of medicine, he is the Director of the Sleep Center at Abington Jefferson. Dr Khoury also understands how much mental health issues affect quality of life & how they are inextricably connected with the complex functions of the brain. I would recommend him to anyone with unresolved sleep problems who's seeking a specialist that is empathetic and evidence-based.

Office Callback
My CPAP machine stopped working the other night, and I called Respiratory Services to see what they could do. They told me to call my doctor, Dr. Khoury, to get some information so they could order a replacement. After calling many times and listening to the annoying voice recording prompts from the voicemail systems, I left numerous messages for his office to call me back. This is my second negative experience with this office since I became his patient. It is incredibly challenging to talk to a live person from his staff, and the main operator at the hospital agreed and told me that the sleep study center is one of the hardest offices to contact. The information I am requesting will take about two minutes to look up, but I guess they are just too busy watching people sleeping to call me back.

Great First Visit
I had my first visit with Dr. Khoury recently. I had not been to a Sleep Medicine doctor in seven years, and I have developed a lot of other chronic conditions recently. So, I’m a little complicated, and it’s also hard to tell what illness is causing what symptoms. Dr. Khoury had a lot of ideas and taught me some new things about my circadian rhythm. I feel that I am in good hands with him. He typed out very specific instructions for what I am to do at home. He answered my questions. He was very smart and took a lot of time with me. I am feeling good about this visit.

Never again.
I don’t usually do this but he caused me so much stress I wanted to bring awareness to it. Recently, he told me to stop talking during my appointment along with misdiagnosing my condition a year ago and blamed me, saying I didn’t give him the proper information when I had someone with me at the previous appointment confirm that I did provide that information. Went to a doctor that actually would give me a full evaluation (unlike him) and gave me a proper diagnosis without all the testing he ordered except for one out of the 5. However, that test had a typo on it, saying I did not have this part of the test when I did, and was important for my diagnosis. Never again.

Injections for migraines
Dr. Khoury has been my Neurologist for many years. He listens to my issues and concerns and makes recommendations on changing my medications to provide relief. After many tries with various medications, I have been taking injections for migraines. This have reduced my migraines to no more than 2 per year vs 15-30 per month. Now we are trying to wean off the the injections. I’ve gone from 3 months to 4 months apart and hope it continues to the point I can stop taking altogether.

Ignorant and Dismissive
Dr. Khoury was very abrasive and invalidating. He made unfounded assumptions and accusations about my mental health because I have co-occurring anxiety. When I was trying to explain my symptoms and history, he frequently interrupted and down-played my symptoms. He made recommendations that not only contradicted himself, but those of other doctors that have treated me for years.

You're not going to get someone to hold your hand and sympathize with you if that's what you're looking for in a doctor. And I know that sounds like a strong statement to make, but I work in the health care field myself and I appreciate Dr. Khoury's approach with managing his patients and their diagnoses. He's straightforward and looks to his patients to be the same; there's no tiptoeing around with him and although his bedside manner isn't as courteous and sugar-coated, I respect how real he is

I have chronic headaches for years, and finally decided to do something about it. This was not the original doctor I even wanted to see but was pushed into this apt, and now I see why! I felt like the whole visit was very rushed(mind you this was my first apt),wasn't truly listening, and like he was laughing at me!! Spoke very unprofessionally. At one point he even said, oh that usually only happens in fat people and clearly your not. WOW I'm a skinny person but I was even offended. NO TACT

Dr. Khoury was arrogant, used curse words when talking with me,dismissed every other doctor’s expertise and advice as WRONG,and made me feel so unsettled and more fearful of my condition and symptoms than before I saw him.He made judgmental comments about depression and anxiety. He asked why I bothered going to him if I have a neurologist in the city.I had hoped to find one closer to home and got the short end of the stick when the office scheduled me with him.I will never go to him again!

After using CPAP for the first time I had a very scary experience. Slept fine for 5 hours & then felt intense pressure in my chest pushing out horizontally which turned into pain. Woke me up. Called office & left many messages over 3 weeks. No call back. Wasn't going to use CPAP until I spoke w/doctor. After my insurance company left message for doctor to call me, he called & acted like he just got the message. When I told him what happened he said, "Oh yeah, that happens, no big deal."

Found him to be very rude. He told me that I still suffer from "anxiety or depression, whatever you want to call it" when I haven't been depressed or anxious in YEARS. He used that exact line multiple times during my visit. He belittled me several times and really didn't seem to think the fact that I have horrible insomnia, and am having trouble functioning because of it, was an issue. Do not recommend.

My husband was in the emergency room due to pain from Neuro Lyme. Dr Khoury came in to check him and was very very rough, banging his ankles with the metal instrument, poking hard, with a needle. My husband had been in pain for over two weeks at that time and Dr Khoury was adding to that. He was also rude and ignorant as other have said. We mentioned going to a chiropractor and his comment was, "Why do you go? Is it fun?" He told us, he does not like Chiropractors. He is one arrogant doctor.

Dr Khoury is great. His staff is great. Getting an appointment with him is horrible. Abington has a phone system so bad it puts Verizon to shame. Each number directs you to another number, where you may or may not be able to leave a message, or be supplied with a fresh new number, where eventually, you'll end up getting the 1st number you dialed. If the staff gets the message, they'll call you. You're better off just walking in, like it's 1920. Then, once you get them, it's great.

I'm glad I ignored the couple of negative reviews left for Dr Khoury on this site. He was great! I know about crappy drs that don't listen, rush you along or have the God complex, Dr Khoury IS NOT one of them. He listened, showed compassion in regards to my many medical issues and explained his recommendations in a way a layperson could understand. He even joked around a bit to put me at ease. Him and his staff were wonderful.

AMH sleep center is the worst place to go. For a condition that will kill me it takes 3 months to get an app't to see a dr. Then I can guarantee you they will cancell it the week before and you have to wait another 3 months, or the best was I went to my app't and the doctor decided to go on vacation that week. The girl at the front desk tried to tell me she called me lots of times and left a message for the past 3 weeks. My phone showed NO calls let alone messages from AMH.
