Excellent. Listens to my reasons for appointment, then asks questions and then makes suggestions. Never feel rushed during appointments, but he gets right to the point. Dr. Kolstoe is courteous and professional. He has really helped my condition a great deal and doesn't give up.

Not that familiar with AxSpa
They called me to schedule 2 mo after receiving my referral and still scheduled me 1 mo out.I went in with an existing diagnosis of AxSpa, looking for continuing care. I was clear that I need a doctor who can get my current medication through insurance. My diagnosis fits my symptoms and the medication works. Instead he wanted to tell me that I didn't have AxSpa and started testing for fibromyalsia and myofascial pain syndrome. I have joint pain, not fascia or muscle pain but they didn't listen. I kept trying to redirect the conversation to my existing diagnosis which he didn't really want to talk about. Thought improving my sleep was the answer but AxSpa causes sleep issues exactly like mine. I think he is not very familiar with AxSpa or the presentation of AxSpa in women. Changing my diagnosis to fibro would mean losing the medication that works. I'm just trying to avoid diability here.If you think you have fibromyalsia, this is probably the Dr for you. If not, go somewhere else.

I have as my doctor now because my other rheumatologist had a job offer in the twin cities and it is to far for me to travel to keep him as my doctor. Dr. Kolstoe was referred to me and had to wait 8 months to get in and see him. When at my appointments I waited in the waiting for over an hour and then another 30 to 45 minutes in the examining room. When he does finally shows up, he is kind of rude. If you are thin he'll treat you politely, if not, expect rudeness.

Dr. Kolstoe saved my life. I have a rare disease and had been exhibiting symptoms that no primary was able to figure out. I took a DNA test and he was extremely knowledgeable, immediately noticing a cluster possibility, and then allowing me to try the related medication. My kidney function improved and I stopped having a lot of the health issues that I was having. I am so sad that he moved offices. I have not found anyone who is as knowledgeable and caring.

So sad to hear that Dr. Kolstoe left East Lansing, Michigan. He took care of both my Mom and Dad. Dad had Polymyalgia Rheumatica and no one was diagnosing him. Dad was at Sparrow Hospital and Dr. Kolstoe was called in for a consult and thankfully, he finally solved the mystery of what was wrong with Dad. He treated my Mom for osteoarthritis in her knee. Dr. Kolstoe always treated my parents and me with dignity and respect. If I needed a Rheumatologist, I would definitely see Dr. Kolstoe.

Best doctor I ever had. MN should be glad to have him. I have not been able to find a good rheumatologist since he left MI. Thankfully, his treatment decisions have kept me stable and my family doctor has been able to maintain that. I wish he would move back to MI. I have never had to wait long for an appointment. He spends a lot of time with you, and his scheduling reflects that. No overbooking. I missed seeing him for 5 years, and when I returned, he knew exactly who I was.

I had an appt. with Dr. Kohlstoe recently and I didn't get to see him for 1 hr. ,10+ min. I sat in his office for about an hour without any maagazines, etc. to read. I finally opened the door as it was getting stuffy in his office. Dr. Kohlstoe was (and also in the past) inconsiderate, rude and disrespectful. He does not have any bedside manners or professionalism. You WILL experience this if you go and see him as a doctor. Past reviews from MI weren't good, either.

Dr.Kolstoe was my physician for osteoarthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, and pseudo gout for decades when he was in Michigan. He is all I would want in a physician. He took time; none of this 15 minutes and you are out. He impressed me as being on top of the literature, and always talked over the appropriate studies that applied to me. In addition to his professionalism, he has a delightful sense of humor.I have not yet found a replacement for him. Perhaps there isn't one.

I had Dr Kolstoe for 18 years before he moved to Minnesota. He is very learned in past & present medical studies and also new studies. He always took time out to explain anything, especially medications & what they actually do. Because of him, almost all my days with R. A. are good days. My husband & I thank him for all he did for me.
