Best doctor that I have ever had
Dr. Michaelos is the most caring doctor I've ever had. He not only made me feel at ease, but he also took the time to address all of my questions and concerns. This doctor does not rush you out the door; he takes his time and is very thorough. My entire family and friends see him, and I'd suggest him to anyone.

John Michaelos is incompetent and money grubbingI
I had cataract surgery from Michaelos nearly 4 years ago. I bought his most expensive lenses which he said would 'change my life'. It certainly did but not for the better. I've suffered declining vision and pain in my right eye since the operation, and have spent significant money seeking relief of pain and visual problems from other doctors. I would never recommend Michaelos for cataract surgery . d

Dr. should help you, not instigating fear and lies
The place is a milk factory !Be aware that the new way to make money is to create a problem that you might not have. I had multiple visit with him, and every time my pressure was high in the 30thies.Their tactic is to scare you, and his staff are all in sync with him and lie about it. Since my visit with the facility I have seen four other Ophthalmologist, one said I had a slight pressure, and the other three Docs., including today visit the pressure was 19 an 18. Shame on them!

All about how much money he can get from you!
Steer clear of this doctor! Went for routine annual exam and even though my insurance company said I was entitled to an eyeglass prescription they refused and wanted an additional $45.00. This practice is all about how much money they can bill the insurance for and how many visit copay follow ups they can get out of you. Very dissatisfied.

Misdiagnosis
Misdiagnosed serious eye condition My first visit with him seemed good and I gave him a good review, what a big mistake. The serious problem was that he misdiagnosed a serious eye condition Wet Macular degeneration. Over the course of my year with him they did numerous imaging tests. If he and their retina specialist Dr. Oren Plous were competent they should have caught it and recommended immediate treatment. My new doctor cannot understand how they could have missed it as all properly trained doctors are taught how to diagnose it. As a result of their missed diagnoses I now have permanent scar tissue that cannot be repaired even though I have started macular degeneration injections. My new retina specialist showed me the images of my eye but Dr. Michaelos and Dr. Plous refuse to let me have or see my images. Maybe they are trying to hide their mistake? I kept telling them about my deterating vision and the dark spot in my central vision, but they blamed it on Posterior Capsular Haze.

My fiancé was scheduled for surgery TOMORROW. We had paid nearly $4000 for the procedure. Today, we were told that we would have to pay an additional $2500 if we wanted the surgery performed - due to a MINOR clerical error. Now, the office manager is conveniently “out of the office.” This strikes me as good old bait and switch behavior. I’ve had numerous financial issues with this doctor for years, but nothing this major. Watch out for hidden costs!

I had an emergency and I was able to be seen. Dr. Michaelos was straight forward with me and gave me information and diagnoses that I had suspected but hadn't been diagnosed by another nearby clinic. I am very happy with my surgeon and Jovi the technician was quick and thorough. I am a permanent patient from this point forward. Thank you Dr. MICHAELOS.

This doctor claimed I had a serious eye condition (something different from what I went in for) and tried to rush me in for laser surgeries the following week, without fully explaining the situation or what to expect. I went to another doctor (a specialist in this condition) for a second opinion and was told that the diagnosis was not at all correct. I was also told to stop taking the prescriptions he prescribed. Very suspicious! I cannot recommend based on my experience.

I had to wait a long time, but only because I had a medical emergency and they squeezed me in, which I appreciated. I found Dr. Michael's to be rude and lacking in common courtesy and manners. He did a good job taking care of my eye, but his bedside manner stinks to high heaven.

I won't leave my name because I WILL have Dr. M. do my surgery. But I'm very unhappy with the way he speaks to me, the patient. I agree with another reviewer here: he is fairly curt "Knowledgeable" doesn't have to equal too-authoritative, bossy, & impatient with questions. These are MY only eyes: respect my nervousness about them! Office staff are quite pleasant; thorough, it seems; well trained; experienced; but one sees rather a lot of them before the privilege of moment with him.

Completely dissatisfied with my visit with Dr. John. I waited 45 minutes after my appointment time to be taken back by the tech. When Dr. John entered the exam room he cut me off and spoke over me while I was trying to explain what was going on. Then he proceeded to treat me like a child telling me to throw away the tissue the tech had provided me when she inserted numbing drops into my eye and to never told onto a tissue and always wash my hands. I filled the medications only to realize that he

Dr. Michaelos is truly a blessing I could have lost my vision due to a corneal ulcer along with a nasty bacteria I wont even attempt to spell, and this man saw me every day for 2 weeks straight along with seeing me on the weekends and he saved my sight. I am forever indebted to Dr. MIchaelos and his staff and cannot say enough good things about this man he definitely cares and it shows in his work!

Wonderful doctor, has the most skillful hands when it comes to surgical. His stitches for my eyelid surgery left no scars and are placed in the folds of my eyelids. This is better work than a plastic surgeon could have done.

I has Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO insurance and I happened to ask my HR representative with Paychex and she swore by Dr. Michaelos I am very glad she recommended him to me. Dr. John is such an amazing human being truly a blessing to have someone who truly cares and goes above and beyond what is expected of him, I was in a bad car accident and it messed up my previously done cataract surgery and threw my lenses in the back of my eye, he worked with me and I can see again!!!! I am so happy!!!

Dr. John Michaelos did my cataract surgery and my eyelid surgery I no longer need to wear glasses and my eyes look like I am 20 years younger. He is an extremely skilled surgeon and I have the utmost respect for him. My wife is now getting her eyelids done next, her cataracts are still baby cataracts and don't need to be done yet, but when they need to she will be going to St. Michael's and seeing Dr. John. Best Eye Doctor in Tampa Bay hands down.
