Do NOT GO THERE if you need do your annual checkup/wellness program. If you need a specialist and do not mind about the filthiness of his office and labs (I saw dead roach on the floor) he might be OK. I found Dr. John Northup listed as a primary care provider on Cigna's website and contacted his office to schedule an annual wellness consultation for both myself and my wife. I reiterated this request at the front desk and to the doctor when he asked about the reason for our visit. Following the consultation, we were informed that we needed to do exams and schedule a second consultation to review the results. However, when we received the bill, we were surprised to find that the consultation cost $100, twice the amount we had anticipated for the wellness plan ($50 per person). We were also charged separately for the exams. When we called the billing department to discuss the issue, we were informed that Dr. John Northup did not offer wellness consultations and the exams were not covered by the wellness program. We were also informed that we would be charged an additional $100 for the second consultation. Apparently this is a common complain they get. I was charge over 300 dollars for a wellness consultation that should cost 50. Feeling misled and frustrated, we decided to cancel the second consultation and request a copy of the exams to take to another doctor. However, we were further surprised to learn that there would be an administrative fee for printing the exams, as well as a per-page fee. Overall, this experience left us with a negative impression of Dr. Northup's office and how I was misled by him and his staff to do exams that were not covered by the plan with previous clarification.

Office Staff Not Friendly
Dr. Northup is a great doctor, you just have to get past the front desk first. The receptionist is extremely rude. The office never returns phone calls. If she doesn't like you, then your appointment is months down the road. Super unprofessional office. You see Dr. Northup the first time and then never see him again. You are passed off to the PA and left with more questions than answers.

Yes; I would recommend both friends & family to be treated by Dr. Northup. He always carefully and thoroughly explains my health conditions and advises the best treatment for me as a patient. As a result of his personal and professional consults with me, after being treated by Dr. Northup I have recovered from several conditions that I had been dealing with for many years. His educational background and experience as a physician has proven to me to be unmatched by many in the medical field today.

I had a colonoscopy and was told I had a polip. During followup visit with an assistant I was told I had Diverticulosis. No details… just that vague comment without ANY discussion of severity, classification. When I asked for details the assistant said she’d have to ask if the doctor would stop in to see me to explain, but she said he probably would not. And he didn’t. I paid for this procedure. To send an uniformed assistent to tell me that I have a disease without preparing her to discuss it with me (and then saying he would not stop to see me) is not just wrong, but offensive. And for this useless and concerning privilege thay charged me a copay as if they actually delivered the needed care.

Time to retire or rethink why he’s a Dr – Jul 07, 2021

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Northup. For six years I suffered with Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome. I tried many different doctors and none of them could figure out how to help me. When I met with Dr. Northup he took the time to really listen to me and was genuinely interested in helping me. He ran a few different tests and was able to diagnose what I needed to help with my issue. He is a wealth of knowledge and really understands how the whole body works together. From this perspective he is able to isolate an issue and find a solution for an ailment.

This office is one of the most challenging to work with, and the office manager is just short of a bully. I was a patient from August 1019 - December 2020. Important symptoms and diagnoses went unchecked. He was my PCM and filled out the paperwork only to question me every time I came in. The office manager, Jodie, is a bully. She treated me horribly telling me that I was an adult and should know my insurance plan even going so far to insult my intelligence telling me that she couldn't believe I was a teacher when I had a hard time forming my thoughts. My medical records show extreme social anxiety and generalized anxiety so why the doctor thought it was ok to invite her into my appointment is beyond me. I have filed two grievances with Tricare. Now, I am fighting the office to get my medical records sent to my new doctor. Avoid this practice at all costs.

Northup is good, Danyelle (sp? sorry) is great. Jody the "manager" is atrocious. Extremely rude and dismissive and would not give me a sample of a med that I had a prescription through them with but was having issues getting filled. The doctor, her boss, had already approved the sample for me the previous day but when I arrived she would not give me the necessary medication and compromised my health in the process. Violation of oath. Extremely unsatisfied does not begin to describe my experience.

I came to Dr. Northup when I had a flare up of my Colitis last year, 2019. He was kind and easy to talk to and he sounded like he wanted to help me, when no one else would. Well, I just had another flare up, of another sort, and he was able to figure it out right away and helped me get back to me. I feel great now. He is a wonderful help with all my gut problems and he is so easy to talk to. Also, he listens to me. He just doesn't say ok, here is what I think it is.....blah, blah, blah and give you a prescriptions. NO, he listens to you. He wants to know how YOU are feeling and then he makes his call. He wants to help you get back to you. If the medicine he gives you doesn't work, tell him. He will prescribe something else until he gets what is right for you and your situation. He's the best Dr. I've had in years. I would recommend him to anyone.

Extremely poor office management. Most disorganized and least professional office we have ever been associated with. Waited 1 1/2 hours after my wife's appt time before being brought back to examining room. NP was helpful, had some good ideas, as was person setting up UV testing. Doctor stopped by for about 30 seconds, said we had a good plan and didn't ask any questions. Had to wait another 45 minutes before getting X-rays, and then only after our prompting. We won't be going back

I have had years of issues with my stomach. The first visit with Dr. Northup I felt he listened. So tired of Doctors taking 5 minutes with you and tell you to take a pill. He talks to you and does a full checkup. I really appreciate his respect in me as an individual case. No two people are the same.

After failing to get a diagnosis from Dr. Rittmeyer, Dr. Northup had a working diagnosis for our daughter in 15 minutes. Personable. Kind. Brilliant. Excellent communicator. The treatment plan was effective from the start. So grateful for this man!
