He seems to bring pre-conceptions as to why you're there. So he doesn't listen and he talks over you. He doesn't seem to have read any of the notes his various assistants have taken. After he wrenched my torn shoulder in all directions, without warning or apology, I'll have another painful, sleepless night. No manners, no respect - ------

I was diagnosed with a massive tear of my rotator cuff that rendered my arm for all intents and purposes useless and would have ended my career as a millwright. Dr. Orwin and the staff at UW Sports Medicine did nothing less than restore it to a 100 percent recovery in well under one year. How does one thank such people for that? If you find yourself in a similar situation, call Dr. Orwin, and do as he and his staff say. You will be in the best of hands. These people know their business; with proper commitment and some work, you will benefit greatly. This is something I know from experience.

Dr Orwin is top notch. He was extremely thorough ruling out what others had just assumed to be true. He fixed a botched surgery on my left shoulder in January of 2008. I revisited Dr Orwin in August of 2018 for pain in my clavicle. It says something when the surgeon is impressed with his own work. I will grant you that he can be a bit abrupt and very straight forward. He will tell you what he thinks and offer what he believes he can do to help you. For me, it was a significant reduction in chronic pain and increased range of motion. Thank you John for a job well done, twice.

Second to none – Jul 14, 2020

Funny, he said the EXACT same thing to me yesterday at my appt! Get a shot and go to PT then come back n see me in 8 weeks. WTH? This has been going on since late Feb., early March Of 2020. He looked at my MRI but never addressed the issues that were documented. I am going for a second opinion and NOT going back to that guy. Shots don’t help at all and either does PT unless it occurs after shoulder surgery. I was very disappointed in his evaluation and his diagnosis.

These negative reviews surprise me. I have had only great experiences with Dr. Orwin. He is an expert in diagnosing and treating shoulder injuries and able to explain in layman's terms what is going on. He does not jump right to surgery as a solution and is empathetic and knowledgeable.

He did shoulder surgery on my mother and everything was going well for the most part. As soon as he once spoke to the work case manager for workers comp, his position changed and started to side more with them. Did not take my moms concerns, suggested a program which ended up hurting her even more, and did not continue treating her as he had "done all he could." Hes worse than doctors who work for workers comp. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Now my mom has much pain when doing normal day activities at home and will likely not be able to employ herself im the things she used to do.

If i could give a no star I would. John is an arrogant A** of a doctor. I had a torn almost detached labrum shoulder injury and he told me that he was going in to "clean it up". Wouldn't tell me what that meant. He told me I may not return to full duty in my career. I left his office doubting his ability to preform the surgery. I went and obtained a second opinion and I am so glad I did. If you value your body DO NOT let John touch you.

I was having shoulder pain about 10 years ago and went to seveal orthopedic doctors who recommended surgery. Went to Dr. Orwin and he immediatly knew I had a rare syndrome called Parsonage Turner. Went to PT and it was fine. I though I was having a shoulder problem 2 weeks ago and saw Dr. Orwin and he said it was a neck problem and recommended a MRI. I ended up having a cyst on my spine. He called me immediately and recommended a doctor to take care of it. He is a excellent doctor.

An arrogant guy. Plus he said he was doing the surgery, but actually passed it off to an underling. Then he lied about it. Didn't admit it until confronted with the surgical notes.

I have been off work for 5 weeks with shoulder pain. I went and saw doctor Orwin who was 45 mins late for my appointment. He spent 5 mins with me and says I need physical therapy and a cortisone shot which I have had and have not worked. I feel surgery is the best option but ignored our concerns about pt not working. I am very disappointed he is suppose to be good in his field but to me he is only after my money by dragging this out. I am getting a second option.
