Professional and skilled orthopedic surgeon!
Recently had my second hip replacement with Dr. Ready and I am more than pleased. I loved being able to be discharged home on day of surgery. Recovery was amazing and I was back to most of my normal activity within a month.

Had a hip resurfacing procedure.
Dr. Ready was calm, knowledgable and a hockey player (like me). He gave me 2 options for my hip replacement and I opted for the resurfacing procedure because I wanted to go back to playing hockey. I am currently 3 months post op and the range of motion, strength and walking gait are an amazing improvement. This operation is actually a bit of a miracle for me. Looking forward to getting back on the ice in the next couple of months.

I saw Dr. Ready after being told that I needed a knee replacement after a debilitating fall injury. After walking in and telling me I needed to “just lose weight and the pain would go away”, he then proceeded to speak over me: told me I needed to eat better without asking about my diet, told me I needed to exercise more without asking about my current or past activity levels, and that I “just need to take it (weight loss) seriously”. He treated me like an absolute waste of his time, refused to let me speak for the five minutes he was in the room, and spoke almost exclusively to his resident, instead of to me directly. Stay away!

Dr. Ready experience
Dr. Ready and his team at the Brigham and Women's Hospital were absolutely amazing. Loved all of them and his PA Kelly is awesome and so sweet. I however had an infection of the incision site and needed a cleanout surgery after the total hip replacement surgery I had. This was just a rare case because it is me and not the norm, but I am stills suffering because of a adhesive allergy I had and am still waiting on the incision to finally stop draining and heal up almost 2 months later. I am still happy with my surgery and the experience I had with Dr. Ready he was the best. I do recommend him to anyone.

BAD EXPERIENCE.
I found Dr. Ready to be uninterested and uninvolved. No one from his office visited or called following my total knee replacement, and I needed that because my hospital experience at Faulkner was awful. At the follow-up outpatient appointment, his examination of my knee was rough and caused a lot of pain. He uses a programmed website that demands information frequently but there’s no apparent follow up from his office. I would not recommend Dr. Ready. I had my other knee replaced about 6 years ago and my experience at Sturdy Hospital with Dr. Gorman (now retired) was excellent.

Outstanding outcome!!!
I went to my initial appointment in excruciating pain - literally came in to the office in a wheelchair. Dr. Ready was sympathetic, explained the procedure, and was confident a hip replacement would be successful. The procedure went very, very well; I was up and walking pain free that day. Superb recovery, 12 weeks out I could not be more pleased!

Dr.Ready did my hip replacement when I was just 21 years old. I was terrified. Before they brought me in for surgery he came to check on me and I took the chance to voice my concern. He told me he had a daughter, and he would treat me just like I was her. I will never forget it because I instantly felt calm. That's not why i decided to write this review. Dr. Ready is the only Dr. who would agree to give me a hip replacement. It's been over ten years since then and it still feels amazing. I've never had an issue since and I've been able to do everything I wanted to do in life that I was scared about that day. So, Dr. Ready if you ever read your own reviews to remind yourself why you do this. Please remember it's for the terrified girls like me that didn't just need a surgeon in that moment, but also a Dad. Thank You.

He did not bother to read notes of why I was there
I was there for bone cyst w/fluid on what was left of area that was removed for chondrosarcoma, he istead sent me for a knee xray & went over knee surgery options. When redirected why I was actually there, he dismissed me compleetely & again tried to discuss knee replacement. The rudeness & lacking of reason patient is there was overwhelming!

Dr. Ready and his team stayed in touch following the procedure and answered all my questions quickly. I am just over 12 weeks removed from surgery and ecstatic with the results. I am working out with the new knee most days and it's coming along very nicely

So happy I chose Dr. Ready!
Overall experience with Dr Ready and their Team was first Class. Hospital care for my overnight was AWESOME! Loved working with his PA-Kelly and she was alot of support with some Billing Issues with the Hospital and Cigna along with helping with prescribing add'l PT 3 months after the procedure as I plateau'd in my progress due to a calf strain, and need some add'l support with Strengthen and Balance exercises that I needed to expand from the Force App.

Having had two total hip replacements done by him in 2021, 5 months apart, I am amazed that the entire process from start to finish has been so smooth and successful, with surprisingly minimal pain. 100% thumbs up to this caring, friendly and surpassingly capable physician.

Dr. Ready is thorough in his patient evaluations. His explanations are clearly stated and explained. He listens to your questions and concerns and addresses them. His staff is easily reached and also is very responsive to your questions and concerns. His care team and force program prepared me physically for my surgery and for post recovery, too. As a surgeon, Dr Ready is outstanding. I was being treated for back issues. Post surgery, my back is totally improved and I walk better than the past six year struggles I had. I am so grateful to Dr. Ready, his staff , care staff and Force Program. Thank you all very much. Mary Sullivan

I absolutely would NOT recommend Dr. Ready for hip replacement. Not only did he not realistically set my mother's expectations for her surgery or recovery, he and his team were barely available to her afterwards when she had questions and concerns. Speaking of concerns, this is the biggest one: Dr. Ready permanently damaged my mother's femoral nerve. To make matters worse, he tried to deflect responsibility for that by referring her to a spine specialist who thoroughly investigated and unequivocally determined that her loss of nerve function was a direct result of the surgery. Disgraceful.

Every dealing with Dr. Ready and his staff was professional and caring. He has excellent bed side manor and takes time to answer all questions. My total hip replacement was a huge success. Faulkner Hospital was wonderful. The physical therapists I worked with, post surgery, were extremely impressed with my incision and my lack of any bruising at all!

My experience with left hip replacement did not end well. I suffered femoral nerve damage which still affects me today. My surgery was in March 2016. I have cumulatively spent a few years going back and forth to physical therapy since that time. Still have not regained complete "normalcy" of the left leg. It was necessary to spend an extra month in re-hab post surgery because I had no ability to raise my left leg more than a few inches. My issue was finally diagnosed as femoral nerve damage after a couple of months living at a re-hab center at Fresh Pond, Cambridge, MA. The process was very disheartening and disappointing. At the same time, the pain of bone scraping on bone in my hip was eliminated, however, my left leg was numb from my lower back to my left ankle at the site of the nerve for years.

Dr. Ready came highly recommended to me from a member of the Brigham hospitals orthopedic nursing staff. Dr. Ready, after reading my x-rays gave me a very detailed account of my situation and presented me with several options and explained their differences and expectations I could expect from each choice. Dr. ready was very pleasant to meet with and his explanations were very concise and in laymen's terms I understood. My hip surgery went awesome and I am very happy with the results. I had a lot of pain walking and moving about which had gotten worse over time, I have none of that pain now. My leg now works correctly while I walk and is getting stronger every day. I am very happy and my only regret is not having this fixed sooner. I would also add that the whole process at the Brigham and Women's Hospital was very good. There was a level of professionalism and empathy from the entire staff from check in to discharge that was very comforting as a patient having surgery.
