Two surgeries leaving me with extreme impairment of my right hand- as an active professional keyboard musician, this has been devastating. He has since retired, That’s a good thing. His associate was remarkably unsuccessful in trying to fix the mess that Shaffer had made. I have since gone to the Cleveland Clinic and have begun to make progress.

He couldn’t get me qualified for MRI with insurance company, but didn’t have other plan either. No physical therapy, no follow up. I constantly had to call office, no one was willing to take ownership. Finally I went to different doctor.

I had what was to be a simple hand surgery two years ago. He destroyed my hand. He would not listen when I told him there was something wrong. I lived in pain for over a year. I then went to a Cleveland Clinic hand specialist and was told what a botched job was done on my hand and that there had been internal infection that destroyed the tendon. I can no longer do my job. He was arrogant and did not listen. He even prescribed medication post op that I am allergic to. NEVER go to this doctor.

The worst practitioner I’ve ever seen in my life. He needs to retire, he’s inpatient and doesn’t do a thorough exam. Save yourself time and money find a practitioner that actually practices.

Botched shoulder surgery. Inadequate follow-up appointments. Temperamental. Unwilling to explain the failed surgery he performed. Extremely arrogant and he has left me permanently disabled. I will ultimately need a reverse shoulder replacement after three outside Medical opinions. Would not recommend him at all.

Just because he is a doctor does not make him God. He's very impatient and doesn't take the time to actually listen and address all concerns. He was more of the mindset it's his way or no way. Getting a second opinion.

I had a really bad experience with Dr. Shaffer. I have carpel tunnel in both hands a decided I wanted to have surgery. I told him I wasn't interested in pursuing workers comp and he went on an inappropriate tirade about people who just because they worked somewhere for 40 years thought their employer ought to pay for their surgery. It decompensated into an ugly attack against me. Very weird. After that I had to go to another doctor in the practice whom was great.
