Horrible and Insensitive Doctor
Dr Whitehead is one of the worst doctors i have ever seen. He has one of the worst bedside manners and is insensitive. He hardly looked at my eye and did not pay much attention to any of my concerns. I have been to several other eye doctors and it's just utter waste of time and money to see Dr. Whitehead as he is just useless.

Inappropriate and dismissive
First ever bad review of a doctor but here it goes. Dr. Whitehead was extremely dismissive of the condition that I went in to see him for. He wouldn't listen to the concern that I was actually presenting to him and seemed to make up his mind withing 2 minutes of examining me. I could brush over all of this if it weren't for the fact that he also stuck his fingers in between my lips when pulling the skin on my face down to reveal more of my cornea. He wasn't wearing any gloves and didn't wash or sanitize his hands,.

UV Adjustable Lenses in Both Eyes
Just finished up with the process of getting UV adjustable lenses in both eyes. Couldn't be happier. I had some severe personal scheduling issues and Dr. Whitehead went above & beyond to accommodate me. All his staff were great. He's a bit arrogant, but that's what I want in the guy cutting into my eyes. I could give a rip about bedside manner (I thought it was fine, but I see others complaining about it). I want the person who does the surgery well. It was clear he was a perfectionist, something else I want in a doctor.

While I don’t believe this doc did anything egregious in terms of medical practice, his bedside manner was poor (e.g. patronizing around patient anxiety, seemingly rushing me out the door). I have had way more positive experiences with other members of the Evergreen Eye practice, and would recommend seeing a different opthomologist there.

Dr. John J. Whitehead, MD
I would highly recommend Dr. John J. Whitehead, MD at the Evergreen Eye Care center in Seattle. He is a Ophthalmologist, Glaucoma Specialist and Cataract Surgeon. As important as our eyes, I was fearful of embarking of this operation. He made my fears go away with his professional manner and detailed explanation of what was going to happen that I could understand. He hired the best staff that works great together and took good care of me. Dr. Whitehead and his assistants are all professional and a great team. Thank you Dr. Whitehead and staff. I received the new lens and am very happy with them. Don't know where I would have been if not for you.

I have never written a review in my life but this requires it. I was referred to the practice and intake was fine. I scheduled the surgery for 2 eyes 2 months in advance and paid in advance. I entered for the first surgery and the experience was awful. Despite my having scheduled and paid months in advance, I called the day before to find out check in time and they said I was not on schedule although I had 5 appts scheduled around it. When I got that sorted, I entered the next day and they changed the lens and eye to be operated on because they had not verified it previously. This was 15 min ahead and they blamed me for the change? Further, he mansplained the change and checked watch as if I was wasting his time when I probed options. I proceeded with it although I should have walked out the door and today my vision is worse than before I entered practice. Both he and team need to work on better customer care and basic surgical skills. I am looking for a new doc. you should too.

would not recommend him! Took my insurance money put in a product( eye plug) fell out within an hour. Said he would order a smaller one and call me when it came in, and just come in he will put another one in at no cost. They never called me after I called them three times to check. When I finally got to talk with him. He said he would be glad to put another one in but would charge me again for an office visit. Plus gave me every excuse as to why he could not just put one in and not charge me.

While Dr. Whitehead is professional and appropriate, the same can not be said for his office personnel who make errors and then blame the patient.
