Highly Reccomend
I came to Dr. Whitfield after learning of his extensive post-doctoral training as colorectal specialist. The medical center is quite impressive, the staff efficient and helpful. I couldn't be more impressed by the treatment from Dr. Whitfield. Requiring surgery, I was quite nervous, even fearful. Dr. Whitfield was excellent in clarifying my malady, the details of the treatment, and the course of recovery. That's precisely what happened. I am now happily back on my feet, thoroughly engaged in life activities again. What a gift. As an aside, his bedside manor was quite comforting as well. Thank you again Doctor and your entire staff.

Superb surgeon
Dr. Whitfield is a superb surgeon. While my medical problem was complicated by a number of factors, the surgery was performed flawlessly. My recovery was faster and more complete than expected, likely a function of his skill and the use of robotic technology. He may seem 'all-business' but he truly cares about his patients and their well-being. It's a great comfort to have such a highly skilled surgeon available to patients in Western North Carolina. I highly recommend him and his practice.

Worst personality ever
Rude, unsympathetic and uncaring. Makes you feel rushed. Actually needs to talk/scream less and listen more.

Life Changing Care from Dr. Whitfield and Staff
Initially, Dr. Whitfield and I did not see eye to eye on my course of treatment, b/c I wanted him to pursue a course of treatment that, as Dr. Whitfield explained, would have ultimately COST me my life. However, after his continual and ongoing proven care and concern FOR my life, I came to see that the course of action he presented, as seen through his educated and gifted perception, ultimately SAVED my life, for which I am ever grateful and thankful! Words cannot truly convey the love, respect and gratitude I have for Dr. Whitfield! Additionally, and in the midst of this pandemic, Dr. Whitfield's staff, Sandy, Lauren, and Theresa, treated me and my wife with the utmost respect, love and care, and we will forever hold them dear to our heart.

Don’t be put off by his cocky attitude that some have described as arrogance. He’s a good surgeon and was very thorough. I had successful colon surgery and was extremely satisfied with my pre-op evaluation, operation and short hospital stay. I had a quick recovery and excellent post-op care. His office staff was friendly, providing instructions and coordinating my care. I highly recommend Dr. Whitfield.

Could not believe the experience my mother received at her hospital stay. The doctor and staff was unprofessional and lost her paperwork. The doctor told her he didn't understand why she was even there. Talking about there could be other tests done. Who is the doctor that told her to be there for the surgery if there was other avenues. Did not find the blood work done, she went days before and done to try to make things easier. Only to overhear staff talking confusion.
