I recently (4 weeks ago) had quadruple bypass surgery (CABG) by Dr. Jonathon Fong at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Dr. Fong, his staff, and the hospital in general are better than excellent. I can't find words to describe how well things went, and the way I was cared for. Dr. Fong explained everything to me before the surgery and made suggestions of things like breathing exercises I should do to prepare for the procedure. I'm no one special, yet I was treated as royalty by everyone at the hospital. The surgery went perfectly and three days after surgery I was back at home. A home health aide and physical therapist came to my home to monitor my progress. Even they were impressed with how well I was doing after such a short time. I was asked, 'Why do you think you did so well?' Dr Fong treated us with respect and clearly spoke to us about the process of my triple heart bypass. He was patient and attentive with our questions. He prepared me for risks and explained how my recovery would progress. His team both in the office and at SMH was beyond knowledgeable and kind. His Navigater “Hannah” was assigned to us to escort us through testing and on day of surgery was with the family as they awaited the outcome. Kudos to all involved. Dr. Fong performed aortic valve replacement and bypass in early February. Started cardiac rehab last week and everything is going well. Dr. Fong listened, explained and answered my many questions never once hurrying me. I couldn’t have anyone better to care for me.
