Dr. Jonathan Kolakowski, MD

I have seen several psychiatrists in my 45 years, and Dr. Jonathan Kolakowski in Chicago has been a great advocate for my mental health! He is patient, understanding, supportive, and friendly. Dr. K doesn’t make major changes without a game plan to make sure there are no nasty side effects from the change in meds. I have ADHD and ASD Level 1, and he has helped me manage the symptoms associated with both. Thanks to his expertise, I am feeling less stressed, and my attention and anxiety levels are much lower now. Meltdowns have significantly decreased as well. Dr. Kolakowski’s thoughtful and comprehensive approach has made a tremendous difference in my life. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a dedicated and compassionate psychiatrist.

DO NOT SEE DR KOLAKOWSKI. I've seen many psychiatrists before, and I've never met one that was as incompetent and belligerent as he. His recommendations were straight up dangerous, and his ignorance astounded me. I had literally only said "hello", and he started the appointment with a babbling, incoherent rant about wearing masks during the pandemic. I went to see him for an eating disorder, and he didn't know the very basic symptoms of eating disorders, and he suggested I take a danergous amount of benzodiazepines to deal with my anxiety around food. He also went on to tell me about his diet and how little he claimed to eat, which is wildly inappropriate to talk about to a patient recovering from anorexia. Needless to say, I will not be going back.
