He wanted to do Lasik on my cornea transplant
In 2010, I had a cornea transplant in my right eye and later, 4 stitches to correct some curvature. One day I popped a stitch (normal) and it caused irritation. Not able to get in to my cornea doc right away, his staff mistakenly told me to see an opthalmologist in our area. I called Dr. Ply, explaining my problem to his staff. He came in the room, immediately told me I could have Lasik (not looking at my eye). Even with the transplant, I asked, and he informed me I could have Lasik in the transplant eye after one year, but I could have Lasik in my good eye right away. I had to ASK if he would look at my eye which he hadn't done. He snipped the popped stitch, and they still tried to sell me Lasik. My cornea doc, who also does Lasik, later told me I could NOT have Lasik, and he hoped after seeing Dr. Ply I ran as fast as I could away from him.

I had gotten LASIK done 20 years with Dr. Ply when he was an honest doctor and had very good results. Then started having a few minor vision issues I wanted to get looked at so I went back to him and he told me I had cataracts in both eyes. At the time I was 36 years old, a little young to have cataracts in my opinion. Stupid me, I trusted him and let him do my right eye first then I had a suspicion because I started having issues again which were supposed to be cleared with the cataract surgery. I went to another doctor with a very good reputation and he said I didn't have a cataract at in my other eye and he strongly doubted that I even a cataract in my right eye. Within a year or so I noticed his office was closed and it closed very quickly so I assumed (and maybe hoped) that he scammed the wrong person and they put a malpractice suit against him forcing him to close. Looks like me may be practicing again in Conway.

After 3 of the office staff told me how much I was going to like Dr. Ply, which I thought was weird, I quickly formed my own opinion, cut my losses and continued my search for an Ophthalmologist. He was a slick, self-promoter. No thanks!

I need additional surgery because the surgery he performed did not work. Now his office say that I will have pay the entire cost. This is not right. He should have done the work the right way the first time. I went to another eye doctor and they could not believe this! He was arrested for DUI so be careful with your eyes! Find a caring doctor. As soon as you go there, they'll send you to the financial department. Eyesight is too precious to not have the best care.

He did LASIK on me & I could only see clearly out of my right eye. The left eye was supposed to be corrected again for free within 1 year. I went back a couple of months later, but he REFUSED to correct the left eye again. He said that both eyes worked together so it didn't need to be corrected. I went to the DMV to get my license renewed, & failed my eye exam because of the eye that HE refused to fix. Now they're considering me a new patient & I would have to pay FULL PRICE to have it fixed!

Dr. Jonathan Ply was concerned about both eye pressures when I first moved to this area. He continued to monitor my situation for two years and then recommended using RX drops or a laser procedure to reduce the pressure and onset of glaucoma. He explained both pros and cons and answered all my questions, I would recommend Dr. Ply, he and his staff are very caring and professional.

Overpromise and under deliver should be their motto – then follow up with an upsell. Very disappointed results in their inability to effectively address. Unprofessiobal support staff - procedures and finance.

I had LASIK eye surgery at Dr. Ply's Murrells Inlet location. He and his staff were very thorough and professional. I left with 20/20 vision after wearing glasses/contacts my whole life! Just had my 6 week follow up and everything looks great. I highly recommend Dr. Ply and his staff.

Since Dr.Ply performed the cataract removal, Crystalens implants, and astigmatism repair my vision has deteriorated to the point I now must wear a patch sover my right. Other Physicains I have seen advised the astigmatism repair should never have been performed due to an existing karacatonis condition. Atlantice Eye and Dr. Ply should be scrutinized very carefully by any patients considering procedures. They rcecommend unnescessary, expensive procedures.

Good doctor, he performed a cataract removal, I the Intraocular Lense for the lense choice, and I'm 20/20 in that eye already. So far so good, I go for the other pre-op for my left eye in the morning 1/12/16, so he'll remove the other too. That should tell you something right there. :) I will tell you that this Doctor is a very early riser as his surgeries are very early in the morning! :)
