Dr. Jonathan Powell, MD

I went to Dr Powell for 2 years. The second year at my last visit he decided I got high blood pressure which I don't and wanted to put me on blood pressure medicine. got mad when I would not take cholesterol meds and insisted on them sent them into the pharmacy even though I said no. And one of the medicines I'm allergic to and it was in my chart that I was allergic to this. That was my last visit with Dr Powell. He was also rude about it. He pushes medication and not healing.

Dr Powell was always friendly, outgoing, and respectful. Listened to what I had to say, adjusted as needed, kept my angina and leg swelling in check. I can only assume the other commentor expected the Dr to read every single line of old records instead of just telling actually talking with him and letting him know of you allergies. Even so, as soon as you got it filled and saw they were, instead of taking what you know didn't work for you , you should have called his office and got it corrected.

Do Not trust this guy! He never read my chart to learn anything about me. He prescribed me medication that I was allergic to, and the allergy was clearly listed. After this, he prescribed a medication that was NOT a first line medication to treat my blood pressure, when there were much safer medications I should have been given first. After 2 doses I ended up in the ER with my heart. After following up with my primary care physician, I was informed that the medication wasn't something I should have been prescribed without trying other medications first to see if my blood pressure could be controlled with less risk to my health. I immediately canceled the follow up appointment with this guy. I will NEVER see him again. I honestly feel like his recklessness nearly killed me. There are too many doctors in Chattanooga to settle for this.
