There is no excuse for behavior like this
Yesterday, May 19, 2022 Dr. Nugent was the hospitalist in St Alphonsus Nampa treating my wife who is a hospice patient. She is in end stage renal failure and has advanced dementia. Because of her mental state there has been no point in discussing with my wife her terminal condition. Yesterday Dr. Nugent came into my wife's room and after a brief discuss with my on my wife's prognosis went up to my wife, got very close to her face and said loudly " Mrs. XXXXX, you are dying and we are going to keep you comfortable until you pass". I was horrified, and objected but he replied multiple times "we don't hide things from our patients". I am appalled, absolutely mortified, and I hurt so badly for my wife that she endured such callous in-humane behavior. If a physician cares so little for his patients, do you really want him treating you or your loved ones? Hopefully, St Alphonsus will take appropriate action but I am a little dubious since doctors cover doctors.

This guy provided excellent care to my wife who broke 8 ribs after a nasty fall. We didn't choose him, as she was admitted to St. Als through the Emergency Room, but he was her attending physician for all of her 7 days in the hospital, and we couldn't have asked for a better Dr. Thank you Dr. Nugent for everything!

Dr. Nugent was clear and yet compassionate when sharing terminal cancer prognosis with my dad. He answered all questions my siblings and I had and was kind at the hardest moment in our lives. We appreciate him and would recommend him highly.
