He listens and works to determine the best plan for you. He really cares about his patients. He has an exceptional bedside manner. He will be missed greatly at Specialty. He moved to Alliance Spine in Augusta. He's worth the drive. When you find a really great doctor after years of struggling, you don't want to let him go.

I have been a patient of Dr. Alvear for well over 10 years. Without this Dr in my corner I do not believe I would gave the life I have now. Dr. Alvear took the time to listen to me and help me find the proper combination of meds so I would have the life I have now. Many doctors I have gone to in the past always think they know what's best for me without even listening to me. Dr. Javier always did that now that he's gone from the practice. I will miss him. Dr. Alvear listened to me and my experience with pain and previous Dr's and set up a new plan of care that is really helping me avoid surgery right now! He is compassionate and friendly. I drive far to see him even though driving causes me pain.

Hey everyone!! Dr. Smith and Dr. Alvear are working in Gainesville and Dr. Smith is also working in Buford, you may have to call for Scheduling. If you see this review PLEASE pass the word, especially if you have pain mgmt needs that aren’t being met. Specialty Spine is a great place. The doctors are great at listening to what’s going on, how you’re hurt and depending on what your needs are.

I was referred to Dr. Alvear by a neurosurgeon for my back and neck pain. On my first office visit, he'd already reviewed my MRI results and was aware of my problems. I never felt rushed and he took the time to explain my conditions. He answered all my questions and a plan was made to help me alleviate the pain. I highly recommend Dr. Alvear for my friends and family.

Dr Alvear has probably one of the best bedside manners that I have ever encountered in any physician. I felt like he really listed to me, empathized with my situation and offered a very positive attitude toward alleviating my pain which he has greatly followed through on.

Dr Alvear was the first pain Doctor in the Atlanta area that I would recommend. He takes his time with you & explains things.

I have had 3 spinal fusions, which were successful, but left with degenerative changes. Have tried to push through the pain but even after walking, core strengthening, etc., unfortunately pain most days. Saw Dr. Alvear today at Physicians Spine & Rehab Specialists. Highly recommend. Great listener, created plan for me and highly professional. This industry needs more like him!

Dr. Alvear, Chris and I were very saddened to hear that you left the pain clinic.The last time I saw you I got a weird vibe and now I know why. Dr Alvear has been my pain relief provider for about 18 years. He was the kindest, caring, and extremely knowledgeable physician. I am so very saddened that he is no long working at The Gwinnett Medical Pain Center. I will miss him very much. He has been like a life line for me. I hope I will see him again somewhere.
