Dr. Jose Antunes, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Antunes annually for thyroid monitoring for 15 years. I can truly say he is the finest medical professional I have encountered here or abroad. He listens, actually examines you (which is rare these days) and is a highly effective practitioner of a speciality that requires a lot of fine tuning. We have been lucky to have him in Sarasota for so many years. 5 stars.

The new Doctors are very attentive, kind, and professional. They always takes their time to listen to my concerns and questions. Nothing is rushed. I highly recommend this clinic. Also, their newly update facility is beautiful I would recommend this clinic

holy kryptonite my friends. DON'T go to this "dr" he may have been doing this too long to care anymore. this guy talked AT me for 7 of the 11.5 minutes he was in the room and charged $475.00 !!!!!!!!! without discussing any of my labs or history that I brought or any family history. I wanted to know a little more of my situation since he was an Endocrinologist specialist. what a let down !!!! I got more from a foot Dr. he tells me to take an Rx that cost $1647.00 and it may cause a UTI. ( all evidence from patient / professional reviews confirms such ) if you ask a question or make a statement he just pontificates and then says "anything else" and walked out- no emotions. think I'm going back???

The doctor billed my insurance $475. for an office visit with the nurse! The doctor came in for under 3 mins at the end. I did not get the sense that the doctor spent any time looking at my past blood work previous to my visit and he was not helpful at all in offering medical advice about my thyroid problem. He ordered over $850 in new labs and the front desk tried to schedule a follow-up visit after telling me my numbers aren't drastic enough to do anything. I had already found another doctor who actually cares about helping me feel better. I felt that Dr. Antunes is more focused on price gouging, doing the bare minimum with little care to treating the patient, and relyed on his nurses to do all the work. The office staff and nurses were very nice.

Dr. Antunes does not listen to his patients. Not only does his staff lose test results, he disregards the results and pushes meds that are unrelated to the patient’s diagnosis. You may find yourself waiting for literally hours to see the doctor. The doctor ignores his patient’s concerns.

This office is FILTHY with wallpaper falling off the wall in the waiting room. Needles laying on the ground by the trash bins used surgical gloves staff sitting on the ground outside smoking. It’s disgusting!

Awful and condescending - don’t go to this “doctor”

I have been a patient of Dr Antunes for 4 years. I have had diabetes and thyroid problems for 14 years. Dr Antunes has no bedside manner, in fact I always have to greet him or he just looks at me with a solemn face, sits down and looks at his computer the entire 5 minute visit. Then he hands me a script for bloodwork for my next 3 month appointment. During the 4 years I have been treated by him he has never once checked my feet! His nurse writes messages on a sticky notes, loses them.

I would NOT recommend Dr. Antunes to anyone I care about. Everyone in the front office was rude and had attitudes. I went to see him regarding a lump in my neck. He was very rough and barbaric when he biopsied my neck. So much so that he punctured a muscle. He later told me nothing was wrong and I could go home. I found out a week later after seeing a new doctor that I had advanced metastatic thyroid cancer. He misdiagnosed me, was not comforting at all and was very rude.

I am a 26 year old female and have struggled with reactive hypoglycemia for years. It is greatly inhibiting my life. I have seen Dr. Atunes twice now-- once during testing in the hospital and once in his office. Both times, he was rude and dismissive and talked to me like I was stupid. I have a masters degree and am a speech-language pathologist. I am highly educated and have done my research. The way he treated me and dismissed my concerns was nothing short of appalling. I left in tears.

Dr. Antunes and his staff, especially Eva Martin, Diabetes Educator, has helped me SO much! My A1C has improved 3 points since being in their care. I completely trust the information, guidance and support that I continually receive and I highly recommend this team to anyone seeking to greatly improve and manage their Diabetes challenges!

Dr. Antunes and his team, particularly his nurse practitioner that took my new patient history and managed my test orders /prescriptions, were so efficient we were able to determine a course of treatment within in minutes. I appreciate a doctor that is pleasant but direct.

Staff is rude and abrasive to the point where I just didn't want the frustration any more and left Antunes practivce

I have been struggling to get my diabetes under control for a few years. In just a couple of weeks of being in Dr Antunes care i feel like there is hope to improving my health. My numbers are already improved. His ARNP Jill and educator Eva are very informative and helpful. His office staff are friendly.

No bedside manner, Bad communication skills, unable to explain in layman's terms what the issue was or to rate how bad / good it was relative to others. Uninterested in connecting me with further experts to help - suggested I look on a website to fins a doctor. very dis-connected with me, showed little compassion or interest in my condition. My GP actually recommended I have another opinion before any action.

I had an appointment in July for blood work for my synthyroid. Called into Sams club 1 3month script. Called his office to have him call in another script. Said I had to been seen in office before he would call in another script........why? Pay 280.00 every 3 months for a script. That's fraud! My Obio Doctor only did my blood work once a year unless something came up. Gave me a year supply script. The Doctor never even said much to me.
