Dr. Jose Chavez, DO

The one time I met with Doctor Chavez he seemed nice enough. He assured me my concerns of having not been listened to by previous doctors or out right abandoned by other Doctors wouldn’t be something to worry about. Well that was the only time I ever met with Doctor Chavez. I was then pawned off on a NP and recently found out he left the practice not long after my first appointment. So I’ve been on a protocol for months of a Doctor who only ever saw me once and I was never told he left.

I went to my Neurosurgeon because I had severe back pain and pain running down my leg. My doctor told me I had 5 bulging discs pressing on nerves, spinal stenosis(narrowing of the spinal column),and onset of Scoliosis(curvature of the spine). My Neurosurgeon recommended I go Southwest Pain Management on First Avenue/River for an injection into my spine to relieve the pain. I made an appointment with Dr. Jose Chavez for an initial visit. The first visit we talked about the least evasive procedure that we could do. This was a shot of Steroid into my spinal column where the nerves were pinching. Dr. Chavez made me feel very comfortable at the initial visit. He went into great detail about the procedure and the possible benefits. He made no promises, but I needed relief. Dr. Chavez outlined a plan for me. I arranged the next week for the shot. It was a very pleasant experience and the shot is working wonderfully for me. I am totally pain free. I certainly recommend Dr. Chavez.

over the top professional.......he cares about all his patients......he actually listens to you and does what's best but discusses first with u so u can have a say in ur own health. i trust him completely and have been with him now for over 4 years and i will stay as long as he will have me. thx dr chavez for just being you

My experience with Dr Chavez was very different than the other patients who submitted reviews here, it was one of the worst I have ever experienced in my life. Maybe it's because I didn't want any different medication regime than my current one. He spent the entire appointment time listing various other meds, most of which I tried before and didn't want to try again due to the horrendous side effects of each and every one of them. It felt very much like it was "his way or the highway".

If you need pain procedures dr Chavez is fabulous. He listens and is kind and knowledgeable. Staff at Grant ave are great and procedure staff as well. He has well controlled my pain . However. If you need ongoing medication he does not see you. You must see np. What a nightmare this is. Schedulers are rude and uncaring. Getting an appointment is nearly impossible if you have a problem. He is such a great doctor it makes me sad his patients get such poor treatment for follow up

I have been seeing Dr. Chavez for over a year now. He has been amazing. He is compassionate, caring, patient, listens to what issues and transfers discussion to computer. I had seen another pain doc who gave me steroid shots that were ineffective. Dr Chavez discussed at length my condition, reviewed all records and recommended we try a radio frequency ablation. We did the test and it was immediate relief. We then did the procedure. I would highly recommend him. Its been almost a year since then

I had the privilege of being a patient of Dr. Chavez for coming up on a year now he was very empathetic and attentive to my pain level never did I feel neglected as his patient, he informed me at my last visit he will no longer be practicing at Tucson pain this saddens me, I'm hoping to transfer to his new location! I highly recommen this pain management physician

He was kind and considerate. He was working to help me decrease my pain medication over a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately he is leaving his current practice. I will definitely miss him
