Negligent misdiagnosis
This physician dismissed oral and written medical history presented to him when treating my elderly dad in the ER. Dr. Gammel misdiagnosed him with even though my dad's symptoms were identical to a condition he was treated for at the same hospital a short time prior to his visit to the ER. Four days after visiting with Dr. Gammel we brought my dad to have have a conclusive test confirming a relapse of his former condition. In addition to misdiagnosis this physician discharged my dad in the middle of the night even though: (a) he was a severe fall risk and actually fell twice within 24 hours after discharge and (b) had no way to get home on his own. Fortunately a nurse recognized my dad was at risk for falling and secured necessary medical transport to bring him to his home. In summary: incompetent and inconsiderate. Avoid.

I thought Dr. Gammel was a very caring Dr. He wasn't in any hurry and listened to what I had to say and answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease with the diagnosis.

No interest in past/present medical history. Took the easy way out and didn’t bother to revisit patient with his decision. His referral caused further injury.

Emergency room visit at Tidelands. Dr. Gammel Did exactly What needed to be done in a kind and caring way. Excellent visit. Definitely recommend.

Dr. Gammel was very caring and knowledgeable when I visited ER ( Waccamaw) He answered all my questions and made my visit a pleasant experience. I would recommend him to others.
