Angry & Physically Aggressive Doctor
One of the absolute worst healthcare experiences of my life. No diagnostic testing or care was provided, despite presenting with highly concerning symptoms. This doctor was disrespectful and aggressive, even using harmful tropes to dismiss the patient, and demonstrating no respect for those who advocate for themselves or simply disagree with him. His level of unprofessionalism, lack of empathy, absence of emotional restraint, and open temper display were so alarming that those responsible for him need to evaluate his continued role in patient care. He is in desperate need of anger management therapy and counseling. Hospital administrators need to put an end to his reign of terror, evidenced by the appalling comments left by his traumatized patients and their families.

!!! STAY AWAY !!! My wife and I went and saw Joseph in the emergency room today because my wife was having issues with an IUD. Joseph was rude, lacked humility, lacked empathy, and was completely dismissive towards my wife. He even scoffed at her for asking a question and walked out of the room while throwing a temper tantrum… In all of my years seeing doctors I have never met someone who is so unprofessional. This man should not be a doctor, and I will stand by that until he can humble himself and act like a caring adult.

Lacks empathy and compassion
I went into the emergency room for significant bleeding and pain which I believed was due to my Copper IUD. After blood and urine tests, Dr. Joseph McMahan said everything came back normal and there was nothing to worry about. When I expressed my concerns and inquired about possible copper toxicity he shook his head, scoffed and hinted that I was being dramatic. I restated that I just want to make sure there are no issues due to the IUD and he said I was being rude and hostile. He then began walking out of the room and said directly to me “well this was a complete disaster”. He only took my concerns seriously after my husband stood up behalf. As others have said, he has no business working at a women’s hospital. He has no compassion, no empathy and is willing to be blatantly disrespectful if he doesn’t agree with your concerns. Steer clear if you can.

My son in ER
My wife took my son to ER at Methodist 83rd & Dodge late in the evening January 21, 2023. This was because my son had a persistent cough that would not go away. The cough started back in November 2022. We had taken our son on 2 other occasions to the Urgent Care facilities prior to seeing Dr. McHahom in ER January 21st. All this information was provided. It was extremely surprising that the only thing Dr. McHahom did was tell my wife "take Ibuprofen" when he got home, there was no X-rays at the time or labs. We find that Dr. McHahom was grossly negligent in his medical responsibilities, "LAZY" comes to mind. After we took our son to our GP, Dr. Nasr. She immediately ordered an X-ray and found a large growth next to my sons lung. It was discovered after further results, (PET scan) Daniel has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma stage 4. We feel Dr. McHahom was ignorant in his service regarding the treatment of our son in ER. If you ever get his treated expect the same lazy service.

This guy has ZERO business working in a women's hospital. He totally and completely dismissed absolutely everything I said, bullied me into tests I knew I didn't need, then tried to crawl his way into giving me a pelvic by using psycho babble. I had said upon entry that I wanted a female and they completely disregarded that request, despite being at a hospital designed for women. After asking several times for a female to perform the pelvic, he said that he was "only trying to help, but I wasn't letting him." Insert severe eye roll. His response to my protestation was that I could get dressed, he could discharge me, and "hopefully" I could get into a gynecologist that same week. I had been severely bleeding for days (over a weekend) and this was a complete last resort option for me, as I could not get into a gynecologist, and this jerk decided that being condescending was the best course of action during this incredibly stressful and frightening situation. Remove immediately.

Dr. McMahon was very pleasant. He ordered the necessary tests to arrive at an appropriate diagnosis. He explained the results, arranged for a specialist, eased my anxiety and administered correct medicine to quickly eliminate my immediate health issue. I’m very glad I came to Methodist Hospital’s emergency room and very thankful for Dr. McMahon.

This is an extremely arrogant and dangerous physician. I went to Methodist Women's Center with upper abdominal pains which were radiating into my chest. I explained to him that my father died at 48 from a massive heart attack and that I had these pains a week prior so I made an appointment with a Cardiologist, but could not get in for another 2 weeks. He took one look at me and said even before he took his stethoscope out and listened to my chest, that I was fine and just needing an antacid like Protonix. He made a full diagnosis prior to even a physical exam! He refused. When I said that women have different heart symptoms than men, he said "that's just a bunch of hype, I'm fine and should just trust him". What would I base that trust on? 2 minutes without even an exam! He is supposed to also have a nurse in the room upon seeing me. There was not. Just his arrogant words. Lucky for him I did not go home and have a massive heart attack. I trust a doctor only after tests!

Not only was Dr. McMahon courteous, friendly, and competent, but he also provided my husband a critical diagnosis which was missed by a previous physician. It saved his life. Thank you, Dr. McMahon.

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. His bedside manner is awful. He's extremely arrogant. I may not be in a "life-threatening" state, but to walk in and say, "someone is dying, I don't have time for this," because I was in the restroom... ridiculous!!! He was distracted by a personal cell phone call, didn't talk to me for longer than one minute. Oh and when he left the room he started to shut the door and and asked if I wanted it shut, I said no thank you and he slammed it shut. So professional
