Rude-Walked out in mid question.
I was not at all happy with Dr. Scianna or his nurse practitioner Ryan Tacoma. I got horrible care in the ER then waited for an appointment at this office. Saw the NP 2x and he wrote me off. Asked me if I’d like to see the Dr. and I said yes! Well what a huge delay in finding relief and answers from another ENT. Rude and dismissive. Sat in chair w arms behind his head like there was nothing to be said to him after he wrote me off completely. My last words were asking him to wait and would he please take a look at my ear because it had been hurting for 3 months. He walked out on me in mid sentence. Here I am almost a year later and finally getting my tonsils out soon and a hole and then a tube put in my ear. Plus two and a half months of antibiotics I needed so badly for an ongoing infection! Thank God for some relief finally. I am so weak now from walking around that way so long. I went to ER in the first place because it was so bad. I’m out of discomfort but weak with no energy.

Impatient with questions and yelled.
He yelled at my wife. Wife was extra anxious, as he had walked out of last appt. without taking her questions. His medical opinion of growth in her throat was “size of an olive.” Olives vary a lot in size. Refused to give the usual cm range of measurement. Impatient with questions. Stood over us the whole time. No customary scans were ordered. Waiting longer for a biopsy, as neither of us wanted to see or hear him again. Poor customer-centered services.

Dismissive
I was advised by my GI team to have my throat looked at by ENT due to pain. After he looked in my throat for 2 seconds, our appointment was over. Realistically the appointment was between 5-10 mins long. Barely asked any questions. Then noted in my chart that I was anxious/nervous. Unfortunately any doctor can use your medical history against you, and he is one of those doctors. Extremely dismissive and charts inaccurate information. It was hurtful and I no longer want to ask for help from other doctors.

BEWARE-Horrible and Not Trustworthy in any shape or form. Good luck on calling this location and actually contacting someone within this office. Huge lack of communication and massive problem with scheduling. This Doctor acts as a middle man from his front desk people and attempt to be nurses. Arrived in location of my specified appointment and was told I did not have appointment at all. This was hilariously entertaining as I had their card with written time and date on it. Silence from behind the counter as all three women behind counter had nothing to say, but then I was out of no where rejected and stated they had no time slotted to see me at all. Angered as I traveled all the way from Rockford area to be seen for my major health issue. I asked for a supervisor and I was told there is not a supervisor within this office. And, I spoke loud then stated let me speak with the Doctor in charge now. After having a seat for a estimated 20+ minutes a women ask me to go lower her into a room and stated your doctor will be in a few minutes. They stated what was the problem I was having and I explained everything in detail and they never apologized for the major lack of work professional work ethic. They responded with we will look into it and I will be contacted asap to resolve the problem and asked me to step up and set another date. These people and location is major need of revamping from Human Resources and individuals need to be let go. There is no excuse for any of this action and lack of assistance for healthcare. This, crazy lack of wanting to assist a patient in need. I walked right past the front desk even with them asking me to set another appointment. I would never take advise or be treated by this location ever. This doctor and location is a Utter Disgrace to the healthcare profession of Northwestern. Now, I’m sure someone will pop out of nowhere and ask me to contact them on this review and they will try to be politically correct in an attempt to cover up this situation. But, there is nothing anyone from this location could say to resolve the lack of educated work ethic within this office. There is nothing but individuals filling a seat to collect a pay check only. Very sad and horrible. Beware

Horrible Switchboard, Doctor and office staff
Beware don’t go here. Google this office and Doctor. Reviews are horrible. Phone switchboard is garbage, the office staff messes up scheduling and leaves you on hold for crazy amount of time. Also, can’t find you on computer switches to another iffice that has nothing to do with you. The doctor doesn’t care and rushes and does it answer questions and seems to not care about you. Explain issues with staff and doesn’t care. Why go to this location if you can’t get help for a better lifestyle. Will never step in this location again. EVER.

I had one consultation with Dr. Scianna regarding chronic ear pain and loss of hearing and smell. Quick physical exam and he said he couldn't find anything wrong. I asked about the pain and he replied, verbatim, "That's just a sensation." He said that he would refer me to PT for my jaw, and if that did not help there were two possible surgical interventions. The first procedure (ear angioplasty or balloon dilation) is incredibly expensive because it's not covered by insurance, and Dr. Scianna is one of the few ENTs certified to perform it. "You're not a secret millionaire by any chance, are you?" he asked me. I pushed for him to order an imaging test of my ear and jaw, but the MRI came back negative. I tried to schedule an appointment with the PT he referred me to, but the PT did not accept my insurance. I called his office and left a message with this new information. He had his nurse call me back to say he didn't think there was any reason for me to see him again.

Cold, no bedside manner, no one seemed to enjoy their jobs and I left with no answers. This guy is terrible. There’s other ENT’s in the area, I beg you to see someone else. This doctor has to be one of the worst one’s out there.

I had an awful experience with this Dr. I was experiencing debilitating dizziness and was not allowed an apt. for a month. I called each and every morn. to see if there was a cancellation-never was. Finally got in and he was cold and rude and I heard him being rude to a patient in another room who was crying. went through testing and then was told it was not my ears. I dared to ask what the next step was the staff member told me rudely that is not my ears and there was nothing they could do!

Don’t go here. I had surgery in 2014 and ever since (it’s 2018) I had relentless pain in my ear. I saw another doctor and he was suggesting nerve damage but the mri showed nothing. The second doctor went back in surgically and told me “I never saw the technique Dr. Scianna use before in 30 years of practice.” By the way, Sciannas surgery failed His staff is awful and I hope that obese blond lady at reception reads this because she is evil. We are sick and in pain and this lady talks down to us.

I would not recommend this doctor. Had first surgery pre op done by dr. Scianna. After surgery developed severe cough with weasing and rattling in chest was told normal symptoms after this type of surgery and it will go away once healed. Needed second surgery I woke to staff urgently giving breathing treatment and get oxygen up. Went to family dr. had pneumonia from first surgery. Dr. Scianna's assistant said they don't specialize in lung issues. Then why are they doing pre op physicals?

Had to wait almost 3 weeks for appointment for my 12 yr old grandson whom gets frequent nosebleeds. Day before appointment got confirmation call and was told (being I am grandma) to bring in consent from Mom...which I did but was then turned away since Mom wasn't there for 1st appointment. Mind you Mom lives in another state and is handicapped., as I told front desk lady. Made no difference was turned away. Just a FYI for another Grandparent raising grandchild.

I took my son to Dr. Scianna, we were referred by Kishwaukee e.r. & he went to his first visit we explained everything. Dr. Scianna was very good with my 2 year old & did great with his surgery along with the rest of the staff this morning. I'm very pleased we could have an experience with Dr. Scianna. Overall there is excellent communication & just a great doctor. Thank you for everything!
