Avoid Sparano!
I was a patient of Dr Sparano when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Sparano was unprofessional & condescending. My off putting experience w/ dr Sparano & his office started day 1. One of his staff members walked into the room telling me about my chemo treatment plan -even tho no one had yet told me of my full diagnosis & that I would need chemo. His office wanted to delay my chemo b/c of his travel plans but I insisted I start asap. In meantime, I sent my results to another hospital for a 2nd opinion. I found out that radiation was being considered. I ?’d Sparano on this & he was shocked that I knew about this. I asked why he didn’t relay to me, he said b/c I was in denial of my treatment plan & was refusing chemo. This was a complete lie. He then didn’t share results w/ me from a heart test showing that one of the med’s he was giving me was affecting my heart. His office also missed scheduling me for chemo appts. I had to fight to get in for treatment

Highly regarded by peers, very research oriented/teaching. His staff is kind and makes up for his utter lack of bedside manners. When family member was in hospital for the disease he was treating he did not return phone calls however was kind enough to email the covering physician once. Do your own research and ask for advice before signing up for his studies because I am not really sure if he see his patients as people or subjects.
