Dr. Joseph Spott, DO

This was the worst care I ever received in my life from a doctor he made small snarky remarks and commented on things totally unrelated to my injury. Asked me a question about it I wanted to keep my splint I didn’t answer right away because I wasn’t sure and I wanted to know if there was a better option he continued to say he “felt like he was at home” and grabbed the splint and walked out. When I told him i needed a doctors note he looked at me and said what do you want it to say like seriously!?! I was hoping to get some clarity from this visit and be just made it worse. He barely looked at my finger and when he did I said ow and he said I barely touched it well I’m sir it’s broken so of course it’s going to hurt and when I asked him about medication he again looked at me and said what do you want like um hello your the doctor over all I felt like my care was not top priority and he was VERY RUDE and unprofessional. If I could give zero star I would have!

Before Covid strikes in March 2020, I started to see him for knees problem. This doctor is a caring doctor. One of my visits I was trying to hold back my emotion because my mom had recently passed away. He noticed and showed compassion for what I was going through. Sadly Covid shut down all services and I never came back, my mistake for not better taking care of myself. Now I'm returning and I know I will be taken care of. His office called me so I could get seen by him. She was friendly and helpful to be able to be seen by him.

I needed some relief from a cast he put on my hand. I cut away some of the cast from my thumb, the cast was for my little finger knuckle. This happened over a weekend when I couldn’t reach him. Informing him the following Monday he became very derogatory over the phone. When I went into his office to have cast removed I was afraid he was going to break my finger again! He didn’t but no one should ever be afraid of their doctor!

Dr. Spott is a very kind, caring,and knowledgeable Orthopedic Specialist. He will do everything possible to make sure that your concerns are taken care of. He makes sure to inform you of all treatment plans that are available to take care of what is ailing you. I highly recommend him as a Physician.

I had to see a specialist asap for a wrist fracture. I was fortunate enough to get in and be seen by Dr. J.P. Spott the same day I called...AMAZING! I was in pain but scared, because I knew I was facing surgery. Doc explained everything to me with a sense of humor, therefore putting my fears on another plane. His bedside manner should be used as protocol for ALL physicians because in times of stress the patient needs compassion and understanding. I will be having surgery in a few days, and I believe Doc will use his exceptional surgical skills to see to it that I am not maimed and mutilated. (lol). My nerves are at an all time high right now. I've never had to face a surgery like this before, so my anxiety is justifiable. Nevertheless, I feel I am in the best capable hands for Ortho surgery in East Chicago. The saga continues! See you Wednesday Doc !

After I injured my back during a workout, I called Dr. Spott's office. They were able to get me an appointment right away. The office staff was VERY friendly and explained everything to me. I was taken back to see the doctor very quickly once I got there, and I was shocked that I waited less than 2 mins for the Doc to come in. He was so personable and down to earth. I refer absolutely all my family and friends to Dr. Spott, and they all rave about him too! He is a great guy and an amazing doctor

Has a terrible staff and is difficult to talk to. Ignores what you have to say and doesn't explain anything. He has nothing but dollar signs on his mind. Just read half of the memo's around his office. Was completely unreachable for 3-4 days.

Easy to talk to , excellent experience . Took the time I needed to understand .
