Hard to believe, this surgeon would convince an 85 yo asymptomatic patient (with new dementia) to have a thoracic aneurysm repair. Yes, he scared him and his family into believing it could burst at anytime. Massive open heart surgery on an 85yo with great insurance!!! Now alive with full dementia. Way to go doc $$$$

Not once not twice but 3x
Can we just say that we would never consider putting my husband’s life in anyone else’s hands. Dr. Baker is a man of few words but those few words are enough because he shows the type of person he is and his integrity in his actions and the 300% of himself he puts into each of his patients. My husband first came to him as an emergency patient who had only a few short minutes to live because of a type A dissection of his aorta that ascended into his aortic arch with a very low mortality rate. Dr Baker has since operated on my husband 2 more times both very complex surgeries. Dr. Baker is a surgeon you want. He does his research and does not take his cases lightly. He sticks by until he knows he has done everything he possibly can, even when that means rushing back up to the hospital after just getting home. He won’t pass you onto someone else just because he is tired and already worked 12 hours. He worked on and off for 17 hours just to come back 7 hours later to do it again.

Having just had an aortic valve repair by Dr. Baker, I can say that I felt confident of success from beginning to end. Here's the thing, he isn't running for office and he does a lot of these procedures. He is a specialist. He fixed my heart. As much as would love to buy him a drink, that isn't our relationship. He doesn't have the best interpersonal skills, but everyone in the hospital knows that if Dr. Baker is your doctor he wants things a specific way and the medical professionals know he does great work. So, don't make decisions about bedside manor or follow-up conversations. The team takes care of you and you are in good hands.

Saved my husband's life and did an amazing job. He was able to repair valve (which was very damaged) and replaced his thoracic aorta. Very happy with outcome and his knowledge of problem as definitely genetic and not lifestyle, thereby recommending testing for my husband's siblings(2 of which have already needed the same surgery, which Dr. Baker did), and our kids. Very thorough and attentive. Thank you Dr. Baker!

Dr. Baker did an aortic surgical procedure after I developed a large aneurysm.(Dacron aortic replacement I believe) This was 9 yrs ago at Mass General. I'm still playing tournament golf, splitting firewood, etc. He's pretty damn good at his trade.

If you are a dialysis patient, walk away. Offered a high rate of survival after surgery despite numerous pre-existing conditions that were put as a cause of death on the death certificate. Does not seem to know the how surgery can affect a dialysis patient.
