Dr. Joshua Denney, MD

He was arrogant, condescending, and dismissive. Without resolution, he prescribed medication at an unconscionable dosage. Second and third opinions confirmed the dosage is excessive. Further medical care elsewhere proved he completely missed some essential points of care. If he is attending, just go somewhere else.

Dr. Denney has a deep understanding of how to solve a medical issue and work within systems to achieve the best outcome. He helped me decide which ER to go to even considering other hospitals where he doesn’t practice. My wife had appendicitis and we went into the Hoover freestanding ER and were diagnosed and then transferred to Bessemer and had surgery the next day. These other reviews sound like they are from people who don’t understand the purpose of an EMERGENCY Room. If you are upset about your condition after not taking care of yourself and letting become a minor emergency then you are an idiot. Think about whining while Dr Denney and other ER doctors move on to gunshot and stab wounds, strokes and heart attacks etc.

I was in a freestanding ER with a kidney stone. Dr. Denny did not examine me at all. Instead he berated me for not waiting until my primary care opened the following morning. He treated me as if I was there to get pain meds, even when bloodwork showed infection due to the kidney stone. When I visited my primary care for follow-up, the entire staff was appalled at how I had been treated so dismissively. Dr. Denny has no business working with people, let alone practicing medicine.

I have never met such an arrogant and rude doctor in my life. There was absolutely no reason for the way he treated and spoke to my son. Sad that doctors like this practice if they have zero compassion or empathy.

Went to UAB medical West, because I felt like they would have all the resources to treat/diagnose me. I have had several visits here before and went well. I was complaining about head bumps and pain. My hair hurt! He diagnosed me with cellulitis. He was very confident and prescribed me 2 meds. I went to dermatologist a few days later and they took a sample for lab work. Ends up I had shingles. Several professionals said to me after the fact that given my age and symptoms why did he not test for or consider shingles.
