After living with level 9 pain from Trigeminal Neuralgia (on the entire right side of my face) for more than 3.5 years, I was referred to Dr. Lucas after speaking to my neuro doctor. I had been managing the pain with gabapentin meds. After speaking to him for under an hour, Dr. Lucas was able to confirm my diagnosis, then sent me for an MRI. Within days, I was contacted by him for a consult. He had identified the issue in the MRI and showed it to me. He felt I was a candidate for surgery. We did a lot of research to find a neurosurgeon with a high satisfaction rating among patients. We were not disappointed. Dr Lucas exceeded our expectations. He spent almost an hour on my first visit going over the MRI pictures and explaining what was causing my symptoms. Then he laid out the options to repair and left it up to me to select the one I felt most comfortable with without any pressure one way or another. I chose the most invasive option because as he explained it, it would be the more permanent fix. I had already had the less invasive procedure done almost 30 years earlier for another disc. The surgery went very well. All involved demonstrated a sincere interest in me personally and my recovery. The follow-up by office staff from scheduling to postoperative care was outstanding. Dr Lucas was my 3rd opinion from a neurosurgeon, and the minimally invasive procedure is the way to go - small incisions, almost no swelling or trauma, and no drain. Dr Lucas literally saved my Life. I had read and heard wonderful things about him. From the first visit with Dr Lucas and Micah their kindness made me comfortable and felt I had hope.
