Excellent Doctor that cares!
It was Dr. PORTNOY who helped me the most out of all the Drs that I was seeing. He is so knowledgeable and caring. I’d highly recommend him.

Very Good Doctor
Dr. Portnoy is a great example of what doctors in 2024 should be. I went to 4 doctors prior to him giving me false diagnosis and medicines that didn’t pertain. Dr. Portnoy knew almost immediately what was wrong and sent me to the best surgeon in Denver for stomach esophagus issues. My condition had nothing to do with my lungs. Highly recommend. Honest, knows Internal Medicine. He will actually call other doctors and ask their opinions while you’re seeing him. Wastes no time and I am very grateful I found him.

Comes Across Arrogant and Hurried
Elderly parent had to see him. First time in his life and this Dr tells him he has COPD from smoking (50 years ago..no he does not. He just got over pneumonia). He was rude and condescending. He did not introduce or even remain friendly. He really beeds to learn about human compassion, especially when patients are scared! I will move my dad somewhere else.

Excellent Visit
Dr. Portnoy was thorough with my mom’s issues. He took the time to explain more than I had ever expected him to and he convinced my mom to get much needed treatment which I’ve been unable to do.

Always thorough and thoughtful
Dr. Portnoy shared the results of lab work and various scans and procedures. We discussed at length what course of action to take and he set up the next steps. I always appreciate the time he spends explaining things and the various options he suggests. I never feel rushed or leave the office with questions. I also appreciate that he has a vast network of specialists to consult.

Zero follow up
Horrid experience. Took 6 weeks to get this office to call me to schedule an appointment. Five minutes in the office to be told I needed a sleep study. Another 6 weeks trying to schedule a sleep study to be told today that the order was never sent from this office to the sleep study center. I can't imagine the time and effort it will take to schedule another appointment to review my results and treatment.

Excellent Doctor, Knows his stuff
I am a RN and after years of experience, consider myself to be an expert in judging doctors--some I've observed I wouldn't even let take care of a goldfish. Dr. Portnoy is extremely busy and I have had to wait a fairly long time, but it's because he's tied up with a emergency due to a patient's being in ED, or going bad in the hospital. My husband is also a patient of his, and we both have had excellent care and referrals to specialists due to his evaluation of our CT scans, x-rays, etc., for cardiac issues, GI issues, diabetes, things that a pulmonologist isn't normally expected to note in a patient visit or in their tests. He's also quick to order medical equipment that a patient needs and is experienced in diagnosing sleep apnea. I've referred other people to him due to my faith in the quality of care he gives, not the length of time a person sometimes has to wait in the waiting room. Quality care is worth the time.

Very knowledgeable
Dr Portnoy gets right to the point. References help from other doctors. Makes the most of the time you spend with him. He’s not warm and fuzzy, but I’d rather have intelligence and swift action. I wish he could manage all my health issues because he knows how to get things done. Never seen a better doctor!!!

Don't Bother!!
Don't even bother trying to get an appointment with this doctor. I called this office twice, forced to leave a message both times (you never get a live person); and my call was NEVER returned. Two weeks passed, after leaving 2 messages, and nothing!!!! If you are seriously ill and need a doctor, you'll die waiting for this one!!

My Zoom appointment exceeded all my expectations! Excellent dialog with the Doctor and he consulted with other Doctors while I was there. He clearly explained my test results and showed the CT Scan to me commenting on his concerns. It wasn’t good news but I felt completely informed

Had 2 telehealth appointments, the 1st one he left me in the "waiting room" for 40 minutes, finally came on and seemed decent so i figured i'd give him another chance today i had a 12:45 appointment i waited 45 + minutes in the waiting room and hung up. He called me at 2pm. I told him i was frustrated and why and he said he had another client issues, i advised him he should have his staff reach out and left people know he is running late or offer to reschedule clients. Ultimately I told him I didn't think i needed him and didn't think i wanted to do business with him. He said "ok" and hung up on me. I will be disputing the $40 co-pay today and i will not be going back. Unprofessional to say the least

I was having shortness of breath, chest pain and my heart was racing. He told me it was likely I had heartburn and blew me off. I ended up being diagnosed with COVID. A doctor needs to listen to their patients.

I also have my concern over the negative reviews. This is a super intelligent person that is very much in demand. Yes he has been rushed and short on answers but haven't we all? He will always get to the bottom of the problem but it may take several tests and visits. He is highly respected and in demand in his field. I know this from talking to his office staff - just ask them if they would take their child, or parent there... I have used the phone to call and clarify or ask questions and have received answers promptly! ( the staff girl told me he works late into the evening on calls and emails that he checks personally). I would hope one would choose a great, renowned, and concerned doctor rather than rattle off a bad review over one or two bad appointments that ran late or seemed rushed.

I had to sit in the waiting room for 1/2 hour, finally moved to a room and waited an additional 45 minutes. Dr Portnoy finally made an appearance. He was upset that the tests I took were at Littleton Hospital because he couldn't see the xrays. Said he would call the radiologist to verify if I have fibrosis in my lungs. That was almost 2 weeks ago. I have not heard from him. I have contacted his office twice trying to get an answer and have still not heard from him. Not sure what to do at this point.

Yesterday, I had my first visit to the office of Dr Portnoy. I was scheduled for a 3:50 appointment which I was promptly taken to the examination room by an assistant where I then sat for 1 hour with no one coming in to say the Dr was running late. When Dr Portnoy finally showed up, he didn’t even introduce himself. Dr Portnoy seemed rushed and irritated. After asking me a couple of questions and no exam ( didn’t even review my breathing test results) he made an assumption of what was wrong. Dr Portnoy finally listened to my breathing which he then diagnosed as an obstruction of some kind and told me I needed a procedure to remove the obstruction. He answered a few more questions that I had and then walked out. The 2 women nurses/ PAs that were in the room with us were then left to answer any further questions I had. I have no intentions of letting this Dr perform any procedure on me, horrible chair side manner. I left upset because I was hoping to get my problem resolved.
