Dr. Joy Schechtman, DO

I understand the medical profession is a business however Sun Valley came across as being more interested in making money than treating patients.Throughout my experience, there was more then one instance where the provider they ordered a diagnostic test from and the provider wasn't in network then I was on my own to find an alternative without any assistance.The final straw however was when I questioned a charge and Sun Valley went out of their way to be anything but transparent about that charge. I'm sure it's not cost efficient to deal with any coverage outside Medicare.Now if you decide to be treated by Sun Valley please be sure to bring a little cash because if you get thirsty you'll be charged a dollar for a bottled water.The process of getting my medical records only reassured my decision to find treatment elsewhere.

If you have dual coverage forget going to this office. They charge you your copay and then bill the primary insurance and NEVER bill the secondary insurance because your account is paid in full. I have written this office and called them and I get no where. Find another office to go to. I’ve had dual coverage for years and I have NEVER had the office charge me upfront.

I have seen Dr Schechtman almost 30 years. I enjoy our talks(appointments). I am so thankful she is my a physician. She has diagnosed many problems I have had with accuracy. Even when other Drs blew me off. This Dr does not dissmis any concern. Thank you Dr Schechtman, you are amazing!!

Dr Schechtman Rheumatologist has treated me for approximately 10 years. She is an excellent physician and I feel she takes great care of me. I am fortunate to have her as my physician. I highly recommend her.

Dr Schechtman is an excellent, knowledgeable Dr. who took me in as a patient instantly when I couldn't find a rheumatologist with an open appointment other than months in advance. Her care has been through and she always explains the details on your treatment with you. I trust her care.

Dr. Schechtman is a Rheumatologist and not a Sleep Physician. She has taken care of me for over 20 years. I credit her for saving my career in dentistry. I do not have any joint deformity due to her excellent management of my disease over these many years.

With all records received two weeks before appointment. Appointment set for 9:00 AM. Arrived 8:40. Finally called called 10:05. One and a half hours later Dr came in, spent five minutes giving a number of orders without mentioning any of my records. No wonder her ratings are so low. I wouldn’t recommend her to anyone.

I gave one star because I had to. I have NEVER had a worse doctor in my 63 years of life. If you deal with RA/RD I recommend you stay away from this doctor. Staff turn around is very often, she is in a hurry and is either NOT current in treatments or this awful illness. I usually do not leave a review if it’s bad but I made an exception in this case as she treated me so poorly I would not wish it on anyone.

I found Dr Schechtman to be very knowledgeable on rheumatoid issues, but found her condescending and she lost her temper twice during my 3 year association with her office. She seemed very rushed an unable to accept any questioning to her suggestions of treatment options. I loved the PA that works with her, and preferred to see her instead of the Dr. I found Dr. S. pushy with medications, office labs and more interested in charging for an office visit than actually treating my condition.

The experience I have had with Dr. Schechtman in the last several years has been phenomenal. She has been more thorough and has considered the "whole picture" more than any doctor I have ever had (and i am 75 years old). I believe she has kept my arthritis pain to a minimum and helped me through more serious procedures when they have been necessary. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Schechtman is the best doctor I've ever had. Not only is she professional, professional, and informative but she's the most caring doctor I've ever had in my 70 years. It may take a little while to scheduled your first appointment and that first office visit is long, but you can be assured that it is well worth it. Every time I go to her office (and I go every 3 months), she seems to know my entire history without looking at my file. Everything about her is top notch!

Dr.Schechman she is the best doctor

Dr. Schechtman is wonderful, she saved my life wihen other doctors did not know what to do with my lupus flares she knew exactly what to do. She has always been very kind and caring.

It took too long to schedule...they also call and cancel my appointment twice. I was not too happy about that. I guess it has nothing to do with the Doctor but it does affect the overall care.
