Dr. Calisto is an excellent surgeon who made my son, my wife and I feel very comfortable. He took extra time not only to make sure we understood the procedure, but also to calm our nerves. This level of care is hard to find, and I highly recommend Dr. Calisto.

Dr. Calisto takes the time to listen, explain and assist in any way he can. He shows compassion to the children and family he tends to. He is very knowledgeable and willing to share it with others. He was our beacon of hope.

We were extremely happy and satisfied with the work Dr. Calisto and his team did with our son who was diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s Disease. Born premature at 31 weeks, our son was first diagnosed with NEC and later on with Hirschsprung’s Disease at Joe DiMaggio’s hospital in Hollywood, FL. While we were initially going to have the surgery done at Joe DiMaggio, we decided to look for a second opinion in South Florida, and we landed with Dr. Calisto and team at Nicklaus Chidlren’s Hospital. His vast experience and work done not only in the US but internationally with regards to this procedure made us feel confident this was the way to go. From the preparation for the procedure, to the actual surgery and post-op we felt we were in great hands and taken care of.

He was very kind and caring to my son and made me feel secure and in good hands. My son’s emergency surgery was scary but he has healed well and the scar is barely noticeable. Excellent surgeon.

I was diagnosed with Spina Bifida at birth, which caused many secondary complications such as bowl incontinence. Dr. Calisto helped treat me with different treatments and ultimately, both him and his assistant nurse practitioner, Raquel, recommended an appendicostomy. He was my surgeon and both him and Raquel have been very helpful and present during my post-recovery. They answer any emails regarding concerns or questions I might have very quickly and efficiently! I now am able to go about my day calmly without any worries or concerns about my incontinence.

Dr. Calisto has excellent bedside manners. There are many doctors who seem to show a cold and unapproachable side to them, but not doctor Calisto. During all the visits, he showed kindness, concern, and always offered great advise for the well being of our child. We highly recommend him and surely need a lot more doctors like him.

Ever since my daughter, who's 4 years old, has been seeing Dr. Calisto after she was in hospital for 5 days due to Fecal Impacation, her digestive/stomach health has improved tremendously. Before, my daughter was afraid to use the toilet for bowel movements, so she would hold it in... She was seeing a Gastro specialist, but he really didn't help much. It took, the hospital scare, and Dr. Calisto's instructions/advice on diet, medications, etc... to fix my daughters issue. Now, my daughter has daily bowel movements on the toilet, and she looks forward to our doctors visits to see Dr. Calisto to tell him about her progress. Not only has he helped our daughter, but he has given us, the parents, a peace of mind that is priceless!
