Dr. Juan De Hoyos, MD

Holds you hostage to get refills. Was refused a refill when I was experiencing severe withdrawal from an SSRI until our scheduled appointment (I hadn't seen him in a while due to lost insurance but scheduled a new appt a few weeks out when my new insurance became active).

I went to Dr. De Hoyos a few years ago off a recommendation. The experience was so terrible, I feel YEARS later the need to write about it. I went in as a recovering addict seeking help for NON addictive medication to help with anxiety and depression. The way he talked down to and condescended me, I’ve never let go. He cut me off so much during my hour assessment, by the end he was surprised to learn I had a panic disorder and a history of an eating disorder. He was too busy telling me his “no second chance” policy with addicts to ask the basics in my history. They called me after to set a follow up appointment. I rejected the call and never looked back. When I vented to my therapist about it, they said they had heard similar complaints about him. If you have any sort of history of addiction, find someone else. This man will openly judge and ridicule you.

Dr Hoyos listens and manages medication treatment quite well. He is sympathetic. Highly recommend Dr Hoyos.
