Dr. Judith Canabal Alvear, MD

I came to Dr Canabal for a routine annual visit, it was my first time seeing her. At the visit, based on just the description I had given of some discomfort I was experiencing, she gave me a very definite, lifelong, and serious STD with no differential diagnosis. She tested only for that and did not test for other diseases that are common and that share the same symptoms. It was a horrible experience as I was stressed and anxious during this time and decided to visit another doctor for a second opinion. Thankfully, the other doctor conducted all the necessary tests and came back with a very common diagnosis, that was not an STD. This was a distressing experience that could have been avoided had more due diligence been used. I am writing this so that in the future no patient goes through what I went through.

Very professional, kind. Thorough in her exam, assessment, and plan. She calls promptly with results/answers MyChart messages within reasonable time frames. Most importantly, I felt heard. As a medical professional myself, she is really as good as they come.
