SAVED MY LIFE
Dr. Vaquerano saved my life last July. He removed a 14cm GIST from my small intestine. It turned out to be cancerous. I'm on a chemo pill and doing great. Just had my 6 month scan and everything is clear. Great Surgeon.

My experience with my initial consultation was that it truly left me feeling very scared because the doctor was talking like he was just going to open me up and then improvise a surgery, I guess because he is just that good. I called general surgery to request a second opinion and the girl was slightly snotty to me and said that the request for a second opinion has to go through Dr. Vaquerano. That request was completely ignored (no surprise there), but I did not file a formal complaint. With this experience, I found out that HMO's have a lot of moving parts, and that they are always going to strive to protect their own people, just like any solid company would. That is why I was hesitant to complain. I was persistent however and was finally able to talk to the right people and everything ended up great.

"God complex" personified. If you have cancer and are unfortunate enough to be assigned Vacquerano, don't walk out the door, RUN AS THOUGH YOUR HAIR WAS ON FIRE. He is NOT a cancer specialist.

Had my first appointment with him today, worst initial meeting ever. Too much of an ego, didn’t explain anything or rationale for decisions, kept talking about things as a matter of fact. Worst thing was he kept talking in metaphors when I just wanted to know the info.
