Dr. Justin Brown restored my son's paralysis
Dr. Justin Brown is an Angel from God. In April 2011, our son Brian, an aspiring football player, suffered a traumatic sports injury that left his leg and foot paralyzed and resulted in "Foot Drop". After consulting with many Neurologists and Neurosurgeons, locally and globally, the consensus was that the prognosis for Brian ever regaining full mobility was grim. We were informed that Dr. Brown would be relocating to UCSD. From our first consultation with Dr. Brown, it was evident that he had faith in his ability to restore our son's mobility. He performed several tests prior to laying out his plan to conduct an exploratory surgery to assess the condition of the nerve to determine if a peripheral nerve decompression or a nerve transfer procedure (within a specified window of time) would be necessary to allow the nerve to regenerate and function again. In summary, the decompression surgery was performed and was a success. We are forever grateful to Dr. Brown! #1NerveDoc#

You’re a life saver
Dr Brown is in my respected family’s opinion the Dr. That gave me back my life after what I experienced. I saw many Dr’s in many hospitals however due to the nature of my spine surgery and where it was located it was out of many doctors comfort zone he took it on without any question my family having similar problems now and I will continue to find or locate him before I go to any other neurosurgeon.

I can't say enough about what an amazing doctor and person Dr. Brown is. He operated on a large tumor in a tricky place (brachial plexus) on my spine. All the fear and anxiety I had when the tumor was first found disappeared after I met with Dr. Brown. He was professional, but at the same time was able to keep things light in our appointments. He was very thorough with testing, giving me confidence that he was approaching this with as much information of my particular case as possible. It is obvious that he genuinely cares about his patients, from calling the night before surgery to check in, to always answering phone calls and emails, to lots of follow up appointments. In the end, I considered him a friend as much as my surgeon. You really would be lucky to choose him as your surgeon.

I was so saddened when Dr. Brown left San Diego. He was my Neurosurgeon for a while. He performed several surgeries having to do with my VP Shunt including emergency brain surgery to alleviate fluid pressure off my brain. Other doctors could never figure anything out but Dr. Brown never stopped until he found an answer. He even called my parents to check on me after one of my surgeries to see how I was recovering b/c he knew how much I disliked surgeries and pain. Anyone who in under Dr. Brown’s care is in GREAT hands! God bless Dr Brown!

Not only is Dr. Brown the pioneer of the nerve transfer. His kindness is extraordinary. He took a nerve from a bicep and transferred it to C6 and C7 to revive a atrophied trapezius which was a high success. You are forever in our hearts Dr. Brown.

I came to Dr. Brown after months of being shuffled around to different doctors who couldn't agree on the cause of my foot drop. Dr.Brown redid the tests I had already had, but the EMG was done more thoroughly. He determined it was spinal stenosis and operated last Friday. I walked out of the hospital the same day with significant improvement. He was honest with me about my chances, they actually weren't very good because of the delay in treatment, but was willing to try to help me. He's the one
