Dr. Justin Esterberg, MD

I needed a laminectomy at L3/4 and a laminectomy with fusion at L4/5. A previous surgeon had done a laminectomy at L4/5 and installed a clip. That procedure failed and my pain got worse. A second surgeon was set to perform the revision. There was a major issue with the anesthesiology department at Del Web Hospital in Sun City and my surgeon cancelled his surgeries based on patient safety. Dr. Esterburg stepped in on short notice. His staff got me on their surgical schedule as quickly as possible which included the insurance revision. I’ll update this post surgery. But Dr. Esterburg and his staff have been wonderful up to this point. I have total confidence in his surgical ability to perform this reconstruction and get me on track to a full recovery.

I scheduled an appt due to chronic back/hip pain. After waiting weeks to get in to see the doc, he focused on the back only. After a month of no follow up, I was informed I would have to schedule another appt to go over results. The doc missed the phone appt and didn't seem interested at all in the pain level I was experiencing. Instead of following up directly, he referred me to another doc, who has never called, and ordered the same test as before- again ignoring my requests/hip pain. He fails to pay any attention to the patient.

I was over 2hr early due to ferry schedules and they fit me in so I didn't have to wait. I was a new patient and very grateful and pleased with staff and Dr. Was straight to the point about my issue and referred me to awesome partner friend of his closer to my home!!

My visit went well Dr was very informative and I will be seeing him again.

Dr. Esterberg was very professional and thorough. I didn’t feel rushed and he listened to all of my concerns. Then gave helpful advice on how to alleviate my pain. Very pleased!

Splendid example of professional medical care, and from my perspective, a great surgeon. He gave appropriate caveats and set expectations to be moderate. Results turned out far better! No lower back pain for the first time in over a decade. Follow up also was appropriate, quick; he addressed all my questions and concerns. No problem with adding some physical therapy to add in my recuperation.

I highly recommend Dr. Esterberg as a cervical spine surgeon and have always felt confident in his care. Dr. Esterberg is kind and compassionate and truly cares about the success of his patients and surgical procedures. He always takes time to answer my questions and thoroughly explained everything pre and post-op.

Dr. Esterberg successfully performed extensive neck surgery last spring, and since then I've seen him in his clinic several times for other issues. He consistently has an empathetic approach to patient care and is always careful to explain and answer questions about treatment options.

My previous long time orthopedic surgeon retired and I was anxious that I wouldn’t find another I liked and trusted as much. As soon as I met Dr Esterberg my fears were put to rest, such a nice man and seemed to be right on top of my situation and very knowledgeable as well. I’m sure I will be as happy with Dr Esterberg as I was with my previous Dr. Dr Esterberg was patient and listened to me even when I kind of babbled on.

Dr. Esterberg was kind, knowledgeable, and reassuring. I had studied what my spine problems are and the different surgical approaches available. Dr Esterberg gave me explanations for my pain and disability. He explained the needed surgery and how he would do it. His explanations were clear and practical. I’m putting my faith and my spine into his hands.

Listened to me. Explained couple reasons of what the problem could be and further test options if i wanted to narrow the issue down. Discuss treatment options.

Dr Esterberg went into depth on my questions and provided several options on how to address my pain. He also recommended a neurologist to ensure proper care through a close colleague he trusts to check every angle of my neck issue. I personally like to take every precaution while knowing my options and Justin did a great job going through the scenarios.
