Dr. Juvenal Goicochea, MD

A wonderful physician; reassured me that my ventral hernia was a relatively simple and short surgery. Outstanding bedside manner. Highly experienced and with an "old world European/South American" manner; described to me by another MD as "the surgeon's surgeon." Dr Goicochea operates out of the Massachusetts Avenue Surgery Center which has low-volume personnel traffic and high COVID protocols, thus very safe. I am glad Dr Goicochea is in my life.

He refused to listen to me nor focus on the reason I was there. He was more focused on my weight and blaming everyone as the cause when it was really due to a medication. It wasn't until I showed him a old photo of what happens when I don't take the medication that he even stopped to talk about the reason I was there for all of two minutes before dismissing me. I ended up hospitalized because of this and had to find a better surgeon that actually cared about their patients.

Horrible how he approach the patient, he doesn’t listen and he thinks or acts like the patient is creating her symptoms . Find another Endocrynologist.

He's a good surgeon, and I let people know that; however, his bedside manner and the way he speaks to patients is atrocious. He frequently belittles and refuses to listen to you. I have also found out that many of the things he told me after my surgery were false. It's incredibly infuriating to learn that I created more hardships and dealt with more stress over things that were incorrect. He might be a good surgeon, but there are far better ones out there that won't treat you the way he does.

Very kind, great bedside manner.

Understanding, competent, friendly and just a wonderful surgeon. A little stingy on pain. Medications. Other then that I have no complains. He is terrific.
