I was on hold with the office for 10 minutes and then was disconnected! The office seems to have a pattern of not returning my calls or hanging up on me while on hold. I was trying to extend the courtesy of cancelling a scheduled yearly followup appointment. The two urgent telephone calls I made prior to this were not returned so I went to see my primary doctor. Upon having an EKG I was told to go to the ER! To date the office has not reached out to me. I've been able to see another cardiologist (one that returns my calls). It appears Dr Rao's office is too busy to care for those in need. They don't follow their oath, 'Do no harm.' Neglect in this speciality is doing harm.

Office staff
They don’t answer their phones, voicemail full, never return calls. After hours phone answering non existent. I had a potential emergency and they didn’t care enough to call. I called 11 times over 2 days and left 2 messages when their service allowed me to. Shameful! They never called back!

I trust him.
I've been seeing Dr Rao for a couple years. I trust him. He's easy talk with, answers questions, he listens. His front office is a little funky. They do intake and outtake at the same front window which slows things down and can lead to errors in payment. That's my only criticism.

Overcrowded and disorganized office appointments. Did not get results of tests. He just stared at computer and said nothing. One year later I received a letter saying that I missed an appointment. Not true. I did not make an appointment. When I called to complain, the secretary ended up in a screaming match with me and hung up. Horrible place.

He spent very little time with me. Was very short & dismissive of my questions. Told me I have had high blood pressure even though I have had mostly low blood pressure. Never had high blood pressure ever, even at his office. Would not give me straight answers or said “I don’t know” to simple questions. Trying to find a different doctor as Dr Rao acted like I was interrupting his day and not worthy of his time or effort. Would have given zero stars if it were an option.

Disappointed – Dec 20, 2020
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Rao?
I have been diagnosed with Atherosclerotic calcification in my aorta - coronary arteries calcifications for years & he NEVER checked my records. Instead he put me thru a physical stress test even though I have severe total spinal stenosis and I tried to explain the stress test was hard on my back but he insisted I finish the test. He said my heart is perfectly normal & never checked me for anything reported in my MRI’s. I think if he doesn’t like his immediately, he ignores any issues they might have. Terrible doctor! He didn’t explain anything I questioned him on & neither did he listen to me or read my reports! Sorry Dr. Rao but I’ll find the right Cardiologist before I have a heart attack or stroke.

Terrible cardiologist as well as human being. He is careless especially when it comes to giving out medications that counteract with each other leading to extremely serious side effects and possibility of death. You overhear the nurses in Lawnwood talk about their displease with Dr. Rao which is a scary thought knowing he can be responsible for your life literally. It took 2 months after open heart surgery to finally get an appointment with Dr. Rao as he was on vacation several times as his office rescheduled me multiple times. The "big day" of finally seeing Dr. Rao at his office. After filling out tons of paperwork and waiting for 53 minutes, I'm finally called into room to see him. The visit was literally less than 25 seconds. He said oh you have no insurance? I can't help you. Go to the local health department. Wow, talk about unethical and no feelings about a patient.

Do not let your loved one see this doctor! I am shaking and in tears because the people in this office honestly DO NOT CARE about their patients. I have been leaving messages for over a week telling them my father is already on a heart medication that they do not know about and that there could be a serious problem with the SIX NEW various heart medications they are telling him to take, and no one returns my calls> I finally spoke to Dr. Rao's assistant, and she YELLED at me. Seriously screamed at me that it's not her fault their answering service didn't relay messages. And when I tried to tell her I didn't care or want to argue about her answering service, all I want is to get answers on my fathers medications, she just kept screaming at me. I am currently sitting on hold to speak to the office manager, whom I've already left messages with, but who has never called me back- I've been on hold for 18 minutes. Please, if you love your parent, don't let him go to this office.

Prescribed medicine for AFib that seriously interacts with another drug I'm taking. This was during a 2-day hospitsl stay. The pharmacist at Walgreens alerted me. He, of course, refused to fill this Rx. Head doctor at Lawnwood Hospital was informed of this and was alarmed!! He told me adamantly "don't take it !!!!!" I will not see this doctor again nor will I recommend him to anyone. He was the 'cardiologist ' present at the hospital when I arrived in ER with AFib.
