Great exp.
The NP was very thorough and listened to my concerns. I was diagnosed with Liver Fibrosis and Fatty Liver 2 years ago and have been very anxious. I have had 3 appointments and feel very confident that I will receive the care I need.

They cancell your appointment and don't notify you
An associate in Dr. Patel's office took it upon herself to cancel my appointment. She 'Denise Steel' Her name was outed when I called to see how the appointment was cancelled, did not contact me with any explanation what so ever!!! I 100% planned to attend the appointment! I found this out simply by accident while incurring a different situation regarding my husband. The same EXACT thing happen with my husband a week prior to it happening with me!!!!!.... But here's the thing my husband had issues with his colonoscopy, and if his appointments continue to get cancelled it will create quite a problem!!!... he had the appointment card and every thing and the appointment mysteriously got deleted!!! ....... Dr. Patel is the primary Dr. in this area that does colonoscopies, and Endoscopy's .. Patients are lined up like an assembly line.... You will likely never see or talk to Dr. Patel as he leaves ALL of his communication up to his nurse practitioner! They treat you , not good!

Horrible experience
2 hours past appointment time and still waiting They could at least tell patients of the wait time and allow them to reschedule Scheduling is horrible and the staff has zero empathy that my 74 year old mother hasn’t gotten to eat or drink for the past 20 hours

Do not use this doctor
The absolute worst medical experience I've ever had. Besides making me wait 4 hours from my appointment time, my sugar drop was not taken seriously until it became an emergency. Now its been 2 months since my colonoscopy and after several attempts (5 in all) from me, my drs office and the hospital, they REFUSE to release my records to my gp. Will be filing a complaint with the state. This whole office has no right to treat anyone. They are rude, combative and plain nasty. Wish I could give negative stars

Ignores Patient Needs, No Empathy
My husband went in to receive test results and was understandably nervous. The nurse would not allow me to go back with my husband to hear the results together. This sort of thing is unfathomably cruel do to a patient and their spouse. Do better.

My colonoscopy was today, I have had a lot at different places. I had a great experience, the staff was so friendly and made me feel very comfortable and talked to me to make sure I was good. When I met Dr. Patel, he was informative and answered all my questions. I was so happy and so glad that I was there. I rate this the number 1 place to get your colonoscopy. I suggest if you feel the office and the staff are not nice, maybe if you go in with a cheerful attitude, and lift their spirit you might have a better experience. Anita Cole

Stay away
I went to see this supposed Dr today after having left his practice years ago because I was tired of paying to see a "specialists" and only seeing PA! I saw something very disturbing and sometimes I have never seen before in the paperwork! A document that states I must forfeit my rights per the constitution to a jury trial and witnesses of my choice in the event of a malpractice suit!! This is disturbing to say the least... If you sign this please know you will never see a dime when or if he damages you or kills you!! Obviously he has had issues in the past for him to have this document and if you google him you will find malpractice suits he has settled before! When I refused to sign it and voiced my anger for this, I was told to leave and has police called on me for telling the waiting patients to not sign it either or to remove it from their file if already signed. What is this Dr and staff trying to hide???

I took my 85-year-old mother to Dr. Patel's office for GI consult. We waited for over 90 minutes. During the wait, we were called up to the registration desk to be told they needed to reschedule the appointment due to not having a complete list of my mother's medications - which we later found out was sent in by my mother's Primary Care Physician with the referral request. When my mother was finally called back to be seen by the PA, the office staff refused to allow me (her daughter/medical power of attorney) to go back with my mother. I tried to explain that my mother was 85 years old and that I needed to be there to help answer questions about her medical history & ask questions that my mother might forget to ask. Both the office manager and PA refused saying it was against office policy. When I asked the staff to escalate my concerns to Dr. Patel, both the office manager as well as the PA refused saying “No we will not". Per my mother's request, we left without my mother being seen.

Misdiagnosed!
My husband was referred by Bluefield Hospital due to bowel bleeding. After waiting 5hrs for the colonoscopy, the nurse shakes my husband's foot to wake him and Patel tell him his stomach was enflamed, gave him Rx and pushed him out the door. Never explained why it was enflamed. Went to Dr. Mullins to have the same procedure only to fine out my husband had colorectal cancer..... STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR FAMILY'S LIVES!!!

Very professional
I can't complain. Did have to wait but there is a sign up that tells you that. The ladies up front were very nice. The lady that works in the back with Dr. Patel I'm assuming is his nurse was nice, she also has a lot to do. I thought she was very professional I know some people had low regard for her. But she's not there to hold your hand or make conversation. She's way too busy getting every patient ready for their procedure. Dr. Patel was very nice and explained everything. Thanks, Donald Graham.

I went elsewhere for a colonoscopy (because I had heard of bad experiences for others) but still wanted Dr. Patel to be my GI doc. I went this morning for an appointment to get the colonoscopy read and was talked down to by his NP Melody for having done the colonoscopy elsewhere and expecting Patel to be my GI. She told me she didn't think it would be a good relationship and showed me to the door. As I was walking out the door, she said to the girls up front "Do not schedule him." Don't worry Melody.

Bluefield office is really nasty, I did not want to sit in nasty chairs in waiting room. You do not see Dr. Patel until your procedure and then you might speak with him for 30 seconds. You are given a sheet of paper with your diagnosis and not advised as to what you need to know about the diagnosis. 2nd procedure was for colonoscopy; I was notified as I was leaving my house for the appointment that they could not do the procedure due insurance reasons. Insurance should have been checked before the morning of my procedure. I had already went through 5 day prep. Very unprofessional office. Glad I had to find someone else to do the rest of my testing.

The worst G.I. I have ever been to. Did a Colonoscopy, told me diagnosis while I was still coming out of my anesthesia, gave me a prescription and sent me on my way, no advice or never told me anything about my conditions, and I had to wait hours on end for the procedure, mind you, without being able to eat or drink anything.... Staff is rude and won't really answer your questions. If there was an option to give zero stars, I would give them that review
