Pre-op visit was friendly & informative.

Initial visit was very informative and a pleasant experience. Everyone involved with his practice is very professional and courteous. I was SO thankful to have found someone that finally listened to what my symptoms were and had the answer on how to correct it. The surgery went well and he and his staff checked on me multiple times after surgery and before discharge. My family and I would highly recommend Dr. Brakta.

I was referred to Dr. Brakta by my gastrointestinal doctor to remove a migrated hernia mesh (it was implanted at my belly button and is now under my ribcage. Multiple medical professionals viewed the mesh on my CT before the visit with Brakta. Brakta said he couldn’t find the mesh on the CT and refused to confer with the referring doctor so that he could be directed to where the mesh was. Not only could he not find it, but tried to convince me I don’t have a problem. I have a rare disorder that causing extreme inflammation in certain conditions, such as a foreign body floating around in me. I’ve had fevers and continual infections, all documented. And this man tried to convince me I was fine! He was ridiculous! In reality, LSUS told me what’s up- they don’t do hernia mesh removal and that it takes a team of doctors, including a plastic surgeon to rebuild the abdominal wall. I’m not sure if Brakta didn’t know how to do this surgery, doesn’t have insurance for this, but why could an office secretary at LSUS tell me more about the procedure than this “doctor!?” I respect someone saying they don’t, or can’t, do something. Trying to convince me it’s in my head instead of using honesty and admitting boundaries in his skills. My husband had come with me, I was so excited to get the process started. This doctor had my husband looking at me like I was crazy UNTIL Blue cross blue shield put me in touch with 2nd.MD, a service my husband’s insurance provides. They confirmed my diagnosis and put me in touch with a doctor in Monroe who can perform such a surgery. That makes MANY doctors who have confirmed this mesh needs to come out. “Dr.” Brakta didn’t know how to read a CT, refused to confer with the referring doctor, and was generally unable to tell me anything about such a surgery except that it is extensive and I have no clue what it takes. That was his wisdom. Btw I’ve had a 360 spinal fusion, I understand extensive surgery. I do NOT recommend this man.

Dr. Brakta fixed me! After laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair, I have no more acid reflux or stomach pain! He and his staff were so friendly and professional! Dr. Brakta took the time to answer any questions I had and explained the procedure thoroughly! He truly is a gifted physician! Thank you, Dr. Brakta!

I only visited with the nutritionist. She was nice and helped. Staff was friendly. Only complaint was it was a long wait before I got called back.

This was a follow up visit from surgical removal of gallbladder. My surgery went great. Didn’t have any problems following surgery. I attribute my great surgical experience due to Dr. Brakta’s experience along with Dr. Van Horn and surgical team. Also have to compliment his office staff who are kind and compassionate.
